Hi i was just wondering what sort of thing you guys were using to protect your computer, as in if the pump fails then the computer shuts down and wont reboot till the pump is sorted? Is there something i can buy or make myself? like a relay connected to my pump.
Thanks,
Chris.:)

Well, most motherboard BIOS's have an auto-shutdown temperature setting - just set it as low as is reasonable and as soon as something goes awry, you computer and pump will turn off...

this is what i use, got it set to about 70*C which isnt to "bad" (if ya look at some air cooling on load). if anything happens and temps hit that high the whole thing powers off for you.unless your in an area with frequent power outages you'll notice if you pc randomly shuts down so you'll investigate

I'd say 70C is a little high for water - if you have a pump failure, for example, the water will heat up more slowly than the CPU would under an HSF, and by the time that change manifests itself as a 70C CPU temp, it may be too late to avoid damage. So for watercooling, I'd set it lower.

It's when the CPU hits 70C, not when the water hits 70C. Otherwise, 70C would be too high.

Sorry, my brain's not working today. I was thinking the water would heat up before the CPU??! What is wrong with me . Sorry, disregard what I said - 70C is fine :)
