I've heard about nForce boards doing better with increased cycle time (Tras) RAM settings, but I haven't seen it documented on the 865. Well, my P4P800-Deluxe with Corsair XMS-3200 C 2.0 improves with higher Tras settings.
I stumbled on this backwards, so to speak. Stock settings are 2-3-3-6. When I switched to 2-3-3-5 (increased voltage), my 3D2001 score dropped a little. Remembering the nvidia reports, I increased the tras to 6, 7, then 8, and got a slight increase each time. I am now @ 2.0-2-2-8, 2.85v (ASUS BIOS maxes out at Tras 8, unfortunately.)
Try it out and see what you get.
FWIW,

That's exactly correct. The Canterwood/Sringdale MCH, has a tRAS-2 incompatability problem. Read my article; Memory Conflicts on the 875/865 chipsets... (http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=92).
Here's Sudhian's take on the same issue, from their; ...Canterwood Round-up...;
"It was apparent almost immediately following the launch of Canterwood that there were issues concerning the chipset's memory compatibility. Systems using RAM that had formerly tested as perfectly stable on i845PE and nForce2 boards would crash badly, returning to stability only when older, slower RAM was used. In one case (AOpen's) the board crashed so badly I thought it was physically defective, refusing even to POST correctly.
Time and research has shown this to be a chipset limitation, as Canterwood is not capable of running a tRAS (RAS-to-CAS delay) of "2". The problem is, much of the high-end memory currently available specifies a "2" result as default, leading to problems. While some boards proved more stable then others when using a tRAS of 2, none of them were stable enough for regular use." http://www.sudhian.com/showdocs.cfm?aid=417&pid=1475
