Hi

just ordered one of the E2200s chips to tied me over till I can afford a Q6600..how far can these be pushed on air, I will only have either the stock heatsink or an AC Cooling Freezer Pro to cool it.

using a gigabyte ds3 3.3 rev. mobo and 2048MB Geil Low Latency RAM.

I bought the cpu because of high multiplier so I wont have to push the RAM too far, hopefully.

thanks for any replies,

ben.

I hope I can get anywhere near 3GHz stable, cos for a £50 CPU thats damn good IMO. 3.2 would be awesome mate.

I'll burn a candle for ya :) I got 3200Mhz out of an E2140 but temps got quite high... Use the Multi well mate and try eg 9 x 333 for 3ghz

Yeah PC6400 Geil Low Latency - will find out the specifics when I actually get it lol

which will be later on today that I get the mobo and RAM and heatsink/fan.

tomorrow the CPU should arrive with any luck.

I will keep you posted.

nice overclock on that E2140, superb.

I got 3GHz out of an E2140--starting about 4 months ago. You should have no problems--and don't be afraid of giving it voltage. Remember this is a temporary overclock--£50 to have a decent computer before you pop $250-$300 on a quad-core. Since my E2140 is already at 3GHz--I don't see much of a reason to upgrade it now. I was planning for a Q6600 or a Q9450, but now I've set my sights on DP Beckton (had my sights on it, actually, for the past 2-3 months now).

I'm guessing you should get at least 3GHz on stock. If you pump up the voltage and the cooler, you should be able to get above 3.2GHz with enough voltage. My CPU had 1.35V printed on the box--not particularly good but I still managed 3GHz and pretty stable.

the ds3 and geil ram arrived this evening, here it is with my 7800gtx installed. Should get the processor tomorrow, how much better is the AC freezer than the retail c2d heatsink?

I have an E1200 Celery i've been running @ 3.2 GHz for the last month (machine hasn't been rebooted for that long).

Very happy with it considering it was $55 only.

AC Freezer isn't really the best heatsink out there, it's definitely a cheap budget buy, but it's still much better then the stock cooler.

I was running my E2160 (1.8GHz @ 1.25v default) at 3.2GHz @ 1.292v 24/7 rock-stable.

hi

i got the processor today and made the computer outside of the case due to me being lazy, getting a coolermaster stacker soon along with a 500gb sata2 hdd, currently just at 2530mhz 1.25v due to using stock cooler - couldnt fit the ac freezer LOL :(

That's a half ass setup. I didn't realize there were people out there who couldn't afforda case or were to lazy to get one before building a computer. You can do some serious damage to the components from static electricity since nothing is grounding any of your equipment.

If the PSU is grounded (which it would be via the mains), there should be no static buildup.

You obviously haven't seen many caseless setups.
it's harmless, as long as you don't put your stuff on carpet.

I picked one of these up about a month ago and forgot about it! Now I need a chip to hold me over for a month or so, SO i am breaking it out :ROTF:

That sounds like a great overclock, if I could get close to that I will be very happy,
got that love that for 50 beans:up:
