Hello there Guys, I am leaning more and more towards buy the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme Air Cooling Solution for my Core 2 Extreme Processor. A lot of people have recommended me the Thermalright, so I am gona go with them. I have read that in order to have the right Balance, I need to have the right Fan for the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme.
To Sum up my Questions:
1) Which Fan I should buy for Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme?
2) Also wanted to know if the Fan Holding Clips are Strong on the Ultra-120 eXtreme to hold the Fans?
3) Which Fans can I use on my Ultra-120 eXtreme that are Blue LED?
4) What number of Fans would you guys recommend me on the Ultra-120 eXtreme?
So if you guys can answer these questions for me, I am gona order the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme over the weekend. I am gona take your guys recommendation and I am gona go with Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme as the Air Solution for my Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 (Ya Baby)! Thx for all the help guys!

I would stay away from led fans, I dont really understand why, but they always loose in reviews...
The Fan clips look horribly weak, but they are stronger than they appear, they have no problem holding a fan.
I'd go with one Scythe S-Flex F or two Scythe S-Flex E, another option would be two Zalman ZM-F3. All of them are high quality and have good performance, the Zalman is significantly cheaper though.
If you go for two fans you will either need to source some extra fan clips (fleabay ftw) or use zipties.

Depends on the TDP of the CPU.
I've got a 65 Watt CPU which is folding 24/7 (so 100% load continuously). Core: 37 °C.
Scythe S-flex E undervolted to 800 RPM.
Fan keeps firmly in place by the clips.
No experience with LED fans, but because the plastic is more transparant, it somehow is also more brittle with makes resonation more apparent.
Adding a second fan only slightly improves performance, the TRUE doesn't need a fan setup that can produce a lot of back-pressure. Making a single fan spin slightly faster gives the same result.
The new Slipstream fans seem to be doing really good: slightly more CFM at lower RPM and lower noise.

The Slipstreams don't look like they really belong on a CPU cooler though. I would imagine they have lower static pressure than an S-Flex.

I've used Yate-Loons, Noctua, Scythe, Thermaltake, Zalman and SilenX on my UE and have not seen any big differences if they are run at the same RPM. I have a SilenX 11dB fan turned way down is what I have on now and it's very quiet. The last time I tried to set a PR OC on that rig, I did push-pull with two high rpm 120x38mm fans and got the CPU (Opty 170) stable enough to do 3D Mark benching at 3.1GHz. With a single 70CFM fan, the best I've benched at is 2.9GHz.

I am using a scyteh s-flex 120 with my TRUE runs smoothly an e8400 @ 4ghz. 1.4v, 51C at full load. It is very quiet. ;)

Best combo for TRUE atm is two noctua NF-P12 in a push/pull config :)

I can vouch for that. Even just one NF-P12 is excellent. I also put one on my HR-03GT. Superb fan:cool:

I would rock Noctua fans if it wasn't for the colors. I hear nothing but great things about them.

It's kind of cool to have a fan that is flesh-toned with chocolate colored blades:D

I actually like the colors, its my favorite colors/combo :)
I am planning on replacing all the fans in my case with the new noctuas, which ends up being 8x 120mm and 3x 92mm. Sadly, this will be a hole in my wallet.

Personally I have tried 3 types of fan with mu TRUE: Silenx 90cfm 120x38mm // Scythe S-Flex 120x25mm 63.7cfm // Scythe ultra kaze 133 cfm 120x38mm
I tried a couple for each in push pull configuration and have found out that, strangely enough, the silenx are rubbish if used together. The fan pulling air apperas to create turbulence which hinders airflow from the first fan. I believe this has to do with the lack of static pressure of these fans and a ill conceived blade design. It may very well be that they infact push 90cfm but against the tightly packed fins of the TRUE little can they accomplish. On the bright side: these fans are extremely silent!
The Scythe S flex which is a medium and SILENT fan works vey well. I recommend using 2 of these as only one fan lacks the airflow and static pressure to perform sufficiently well on an overclocked chip (on a TRUE mounted on a 3.6 ghz 1.5v e6600). A couple of these and performance will be very good. 2 of these fans are essentially silent and there should be no need for a fan controller.
The scythe ultra kaze 3000 is a great fan. 2 of these truly move a lot of air and output an astonishing high static pressure. These fans are loud 45/46 db but are truly excellent to achieve maximum performance from the TRUE. A couple of these in push pull confguration will keep your cpu as cool as physically possibile given all other variables.
Unfortunately the TRUE seems to have been designed to benefit in an negative exponential way from the airflow of fans. In my experience the highest perfomance/cfm ratio is achieved at aroun 60 cfm. With fans capable of producing at leats this amount and a reasonable static pressure the TRUE will perform very well. For every degree you want to shave off after that you need to increase the airflow and pressure exponentially. I do not have accurate results for this but it makes sense given that using a couple of scythe ultra kaze 3000 will lower my cpu temps of maybe 2-3 degrees (core temperature) compared to a couple of scythe S-flex. Using a fan less powerful than the scythe S-flex will conversely produce a much higher temperature rise.
IMHO you should consider 2 medium fans around 60cfm. S-flex are perfect but also the Panaflo M1 are good. If you can stand the noise and want your TRUE to shine you should look into 100+ cfm fans. However a fan controller would come in handy if you plan to work at your pc and not simply bench once in a while.
Regarding the blue led fans I would stay away. LED fans are usually underperformers and you can achieve a very similar optic effect by miunting cold cathode blue neons.
Hope this helped.

Two of these (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/de12gf.html) in push/pull!!! You may need to construct some type of bracketry to help support this set-up though.

or what about this model in push pull config. ? i think those no need extra support for the weight can use the same clips of the cooler

Dual Scythe S-Flex F or Noctua NF-P12.
What I am using currently is dual Scythe S-Flex F hooked it up on a fanconnector, Ilde on 5V they are inaudibable, and when full load on 12V the noise level is acceptable. I really recommend the S-Flex F, but those new Noctua NF-P12 seems very nice fans, pita the colors I dont like, but this is just a personal taste.
I gotta agree with the noctuas, definitely the best fans around

Hey Guys, I didn't wanted to start another thread for my question, so here it it. I went with your guys choice and bought me the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme. I am little worried about the Fan being held by those Clips. I don't want my fan to fell down while my system is running. Any I do something else to SECURE my fan on the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme. I just went threw the Air Cooled Gallery and I saw couple of examples on how people have secured that fan. One of these was to use those "Wire Plastic Strip thing." Do these get HOT?

So if you guys can recoomend me other ways to secure my fan, that would really help me stop worry about my fan falling down.!

FYI pretty much every LED fan is a POS that cuts corners.
you want glow in the dark? buy bands and learn how to wire.
I would rock Noctua fans if it wasn't for the colors. I hear nothing but great things about them.

zipties
Do you have a picture of a TRUE120 with zipties? I would really like to know, because I have only one pair of fan clips. I tried attaching the other fan with zipties, but found it very hard to do so.
By the way, if you use the Scythe S-flex, you should definitely use 2 of them in push/pull. I have only one (pull) and @1600 RPM i can barely feel it sucking any air through the heatsink.

My 120X38MM is being held on just fine to my TRUE. Your fan won't fall down with them on.

It's not that I'm afraid that it will fall off, but where do you tie the zipties around? Do you just put them around your entire heatsink?

i used a Akasa Ultra Quiet 120mm 18dBA , 49.74cfm,
very quiet and provides enough airflow i believe. e8650 is cooled to 28c.
only issue with this fan is the screw holes are filled, not cut out so the clips you get doesnt clip in, i just cut the bits out and worked fine.

If your exhaust is right there at your true, just mount one fan, no need to put 2 in there, this has been tested by lots of people here, one fan is enough, also the wire bracket thing you get is fine, held my noctua nf-p12 without a problem at all and others use that mount as well, can also pickup spare brackets off the net or more than likely any comp store. I paid 1.99 USD for my extra wire brackets at Microcenter.
Just my opinion but 2 fans mounted on the Heatsink really is not needed at all.
