Phenom 9600 BE @ stock 2.3
4x1gb crucial ballistix 1066 5-5-5-15 @ 1066 5-5-5-15
PCP&C 750 watt silencer
2 3870's in xfire
antec 900

I switched from vista ultimate 64 bit to xp pro 32bit so I could overclock the phenom (Couldn't go over stock on vista, and now i can get it to 2.7 stable)

But to test it compared to vista I set it to stock and ran 3dmark06 on defauts and got a score of 8271, on vista i got 11576

My sm 2.0 is 2899
my hdr sm 3.0 is 4927
and my cpu is 1737 (? Doesnt seem right..)

Also in vista the graphics tests never dipped below 30, now all of a sudden in pro they're going to the 10 and 15 range in fps.

Does vista really make that big of a performance difference or is there something wrong?

Have you installed the Phenom XP drivers, your CPU score is to low should be around 3K.

If anything, XP should be faster. What is wrong Id ont know. Maybe it's as easy as a fresh driver install?

Well I just OC'd the processor to 2.6 and im getting 10K still not even close to what I got on vista. Whats even more, with that 300 mhz OC. the processor score only went up to 2K from 1737...I don't think it'd matter if my northbridge was OC'd too? (Its @ 2.2ghz compared to 1800 stock.)

I didnt know there were phenom drivers for xp, could you point me in the right direction?

Also the graphics tests always lag in the same place every time I test, which it never did in vista any ideas on that also?

Should I have the /pae switch on also? Or should I just live with the 3 gigs?

Thanks again guys

Are you talking about these drivers from AMD's Site? I thought all it did was adjust the cpu blah blah blah?

AMD Processor Driver Version 1.3.2.0053 for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (x86 and x64) - Allows the system to automatically adjust the CPU speed, voltage and power combination to match the instantaneous user performance need. This package is a user friendly localized software installation of the driver designed for end-users. This driver supports AMD processors on Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 SP2 x86 and x64 Editions

Also, I OC'd it to 2.6 and cpu-z showed 200 fsb x 13.0 multi, but no matter what I change it to everest shows 13x 177 fsb for 2.3 gighz and it adjusts it to always make it 2.3, is that a driver problem?

Nope, still no good. 1800 cpu scores, no idea what to do.

How about TLB patch? It shouldn't have that impact thou...

Some how your only using 1/4 to third of CPU....

Make shure only AMD PHENOM DRIVER is installed and that you do not have the DUAL CORE driver installed if you had a X2 in that mobo before the Phenom...That will cause your problem...

Just a little hunce after looking at you OC and performane...

If you turned off CnQ to access the NPtFid make shure you are setting the correct multi....

If it reads 8x 1600 thats default and will stay like that unless you set it to a higher multi or RAISE THE FSB...

Example:

nptfid,,
8x = 1600mhz
8.5x = 1700mhz
9x = 1800mhz
9.5x = 1900mhz
10x =2000mhz
10.5x =2100mhz
11x = 2200mhz (9500stock)
11.5x = 2300mhz (9600/9600BE stock)
12x = 2400mhz
12.5x = 2500mhz and so on.........

If you never changed the NPTfid and left it default after turning CnQ off you will always run at half speed unless you are overclocking the FSB or you have set the multi to stock or HIGHER..

I just reformatted and this is a brand new build, so no old drivers were installed. My bios is 1.3 and It worked fine in vista. I have the option of raising the multi straight and its always been stock or higher. I've tried with CnQ on and off also. I do have my NB multi set to through bios 11 which runs @ 2200 instead of 1800 if that could make any difference.

Also tried with TLB fix on and off.

Like just now for the heck of it I tried bumping the multi to 12x through aod just to see.. cpu-z reads it as 200x12 but this is everest..

CPU Type QuadCore AMD Phenom, 2300 MHz (12 x 192) No matter what I do it always calculates to read it at 2300. Maybe thats just everest? I don't know. But still doesn't explain the huge performance hit in xp from vista. =\

Same thing if I do it with the multi underclocked, cpu-z says its running at 200x11 for 2200 but everest says 11x209 for 2300, that must be just everest, but its weird that I'm getting a cpu hit =\

Could it possibly have anything to do with a bad install of the os if possible?

I've got one or two blue screens about a corrupt kernel, but I never associated the two.

Unfortunately I'm going away for 1-2 days so I can't really reformat atm, but I will when I get back.

Also check you HT link width it must be 16x or youll get low perforance in all benches...

Yes HT link width is at 16x all the way down

Well reformatted, ran 3dmark, got 8000 again. Then I said.. HEY wait a sec, lets install multi-gpu patch and crysis hotfix

Walah! Moved my cpu scores from 1700 to 3233, scoring around 11K

Thanks again guys
