Hi guys, i have a problem several days already trying to install Vista :(
I'm trying to install Vista 64-bit on a new rig with mobo ASUS P5E3 with DDR3, on Raid-0 with 2 Western Digital disks WD400YR.
I set sata as Raid in bios, next created raid in ctrl-i menu, next i insert Vista disk, booting from it, see message about reading files and immediately get BSOD 0x00008086.
So I see BSOD before prompting for drivers, just right after first screen about reading files.
How can I solve this problem??
Oh, and of coz i flashed latest bios 0409 from asus site, but it didn't help.

RAM i dont think so, no overclock at all.
Well with HD I have strange thing, SMART not working on both disks, during POST i see message "SMART capable but command failed".
Now I set IDE mode and its installing good.
So problemin Raid config, i see BSOD before prompting for drivers.
May it be Vista issue?
I wiil try to install XP 32-bit also, to ensure its not problem with hardware.

How much RAM are you running? If it's 4GB+ remove all sticks except for 1 and try again. After the install you can put all the memory back in.

I have 2x1Gb Kingston HyperX 1375 7-7-7-20, first low latency DDR3 memory :)
But they even run as DDR3-1066 7-7-7-20 for now.
Hm, u think its memory issue?
My installation of Vista in IDE mode finished, it's all ok.
How could I locate problem? Try raid on XP 32-bit? Use one memory stick? Try Vista AHCI?

Hrrm, if it's working in IDE mode but not in AHCI it might be some wierd incompatibiity with Vista.
For some reason, on my P5N and Maximus Formula boards I had to use a CDROM driver to get my IDE CDROMS working (even though it booted from them in the first place).
So, maybe try and copy drivers for the SATA/RAID controller.
I don't think it's a memory issue, but try running everything @ stock (CPU/MEM) w/ loose timings, and/or "dial in" all the timings your can into your bios instead of leaving them on Auto.

Btw, my DVD is SATA, i have no any IDE devices.
One more feature, I see first mobo without Jmicron, P5E3 use ICH9R and Marvel controllers.
So, maybe try and copy drivers for the SATA/RAID controller.
What do u mean, copy where to?

Onto a CD/DVD or a USB Memory stick of some sort.
There's a point at the beginning of the install that lets you choose drivers. See if that helps. I'm going by memory so I don't remember where exactly that is but it's one of the first few screens at the beginning of the install.
