i am thinking of changing the tubing in my loop to the tygon r3400 7/16id 9/16od BUT
after i switch how do i know while filling if the tline goes low so that i dont run the pump dry?

put something that floats as is about 1/4" in diameter in the tube with a fishing line attached and a mark so that when the water is about 2-3" above the pump you can tell and shut it off?

for my build, the tubing to and from the pump is in clear...

My own way is to put a clear tubing section on the T-line part which go up so I can watch the water level. The rest is black and for the other loop, the reservoir will serve as a indicator.

Thats the logical idea really and what i though most of us would do. Then again this is Xtreme Systems with anything being possible

I wonder if the black tubing allows any sort of UV penetration? Put a tiny bit of UV reactant additive in and get a UV CCFL (not for 24/7, just for figuring out if you have enough fluid).

Yeah, it won't let a lot of light out, but a SLIGHT glow in the dark should be visible? (if enough UV penetrates and it allows enough light to exit)

Anyway, if it gets low enough, you'll definitely hear it :p:

I don't think so. Tygon R-3400 clearly stated it's a anti-UV tubing ;)

use a res? or stick with a clear or non-black part of tubing somewhere. side note why not clear tubing + black fluid?

because i don't want any issues of it fading or staining my block/rads/tubing

just fill your loop and don't cry about air stuck inside it :S Just pop the top off and run your pump for 2 hours on 50% speed. watercooling is made so difficult at XS. It isn't at all and I bet it will all turn out well....

Since I have r3400 tygon it's so much more easy... I seriously don't know whats inside my rad, block, pump and tubing. as long as I can't see whats inside there is no problem right? temps are still fine so it's all a bit taken too serious in here ;)

watercooling is just as easy as installing a scythe cpu tower :D

Another way if you don't have clear tubing on hand is to fill to the top, spilling a bit then let it run. Watch often and refill till it remain full for a few hours. When this happen, cap it off and don't worry for some time.

I use a T-line and tygon 3400. Use clear tubing on just the fillport line and everything else black like Xilikon said..
It works great for me and looks good at the same time...
