So i was looking around at my SS unit and took off the service cap on the filter/drier and could hear a hiss coming out of it with the cap off, couldnt see any "white" gas though. Is it just air? Does this mean i need to send it to someone and have them recharge and fix this?

put the cap back on and make sure it is tight and then soap it up to make sure it is still not leaking but if you want to get it fixed then your best bet is to find a some one that fixes water coolers they will most likely have a tool that will change that leaking valve with out losing any of the charge or the other way is to recover what gas is in it change the valve then put in the same amount of gas you took out

Oy, means schraders leaking, keep cap on till you can get someone like jinu to repair the schreader. But definitly test it now.

Use a valve core tool that can replace the cores while the system is still under pressure. A common cause of service nipple leaks is failing to remove the valve core before brazing, which can damage the seal.
