I'd say keep it and use it. Get as many air cons and salvage the refrigerant as unless you get all your certs and course work you won't be able to buy refrigerant.

well i have all the refrigerant as i need as i have some one in the USA that ships to me as well as i am going to get my HVAC tickets and i have a other recovery unit that i can use with all refrigerants right up to r410a so this unit is just sitting around and i don't use it so i was just thinking that it might have some parts that i could use but if you still tell me just to keep it after you read this that i will just keep it so still open to suggestions

well that system does recycling unlike a simple recover only unit.

ya your right there but tell me if this is true i can only recover r22,r12,r502 or any gas that uses mineral oil not POE with this unit and that is why i am thinking about ripping it apart do to the fact i use gases like r404a,r134a,r507 and so on now i do have some r12 and some r22 but i am trying to find some where to get rid of the r12 at as it is illegal here in Canada

not true, if you change it over to POE you can do any refrigerant, and of course you need to replace the filters for a bit after and probably the oil after a bit due to the cleaning action of poe.

so if i wanted to do this what would i have to do just take out the compressor and then just do a oil change on it and put it back in now if i do this (does it make it ok to recover any gas with it or just the ones that use POE)

Nice thing about POE is it is universally compatible pretty much, there are very few gasses that will not work with it.

The compressor should have an oil drain on it some where, change over the oil several times after it has run for a few hours, and you'll have to change the filters often while the POE cleans the system out.

After that it will work with nearly every singe refrigerant you're likely to come by.

If your going to dismantle it,keep everything except the tin frame & you may be able to recycle part of that into a case, keep the flat panels, electric solenoid valves a 1/2 dozen at least, all brass fittings, even cut the flare nuts off the tubing (brass fitting can add up quick) electrical contactors, switches etc.

After you gain some experience you'll figure out what & how to use that stuff.
