It's already out afaik, you can download the standalone from the Windows Update site, it doesn't update automatically if it detects a potentially problematic or outdated drivers iirc.

Why don't they let Auto Update, update my Vista Ultimate then...

I don't understand..

It currently tells me I am up to date, and I guess SP1 is officially released.?? Odd...

They need to let the Windows Update page handle this so we dont have to try and find a link that we hope is correct.

It was released to the public two days ago......here's a link to the Daily Tech article about its release:

Windows Vista SP1 Now Available to the Public (http://www.dailytech.com/Windows+Vista+SP1+Now+Available+to+the+Public/article11138.htm)

Link to MS download for 32-bit Vista SP1 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b0c7136d-5ebb-413b-89c9-cb3d06d12674&DisplayLang=en)

Link to MS download for 64-bit Vista SP1 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=874a414b-32b2-41cc-bd8b-d71eda5ec07c&displaylang=en)

And from what I've been able to find out, it'll be included in Vista's autoupdates in April.

I did the 64-bit upgrade yesterday.......and had no hot fixes to apply afterward at all. Don't know what they're talking about, though.

SP1 did make my Vista install really speed up a bit.....apps opening a lot faster, faster boot, shutdown, even file copies.

No issues at all.....quite happy with it so far.

I agree, I think MS did a pretty darn amazing job with this SP.

Might be a good time for the "on the fence" people between XP and Vista to go ahead and upgrade.

My Vista Ultimat has successfully has been updated to SP1!! :)

I did go back to the Windows Update page after the upgrade was completed. It confirmed that I was up to date, and there were no Security Updates that I still needed to install. :)

Thanks for the help.

So anyone confirm a performance boost over XP yet?

Well I can confirm that's it's certainly not slower than XP unless you're trying to run on a really old PC.

let's not be gullible. SP1 won't double your video cards' performance. Vista is still likely going to be the next ME, especially if Windows 7 is released next year like it's supposed to be.

I have to believe at some point, 64bit operating systems, will be faster than 32 bit operating systems. Especially when using 64bit CPU's...

SP1 is out. And im getting many errors from random programs stopped responding.

My FPS Seems to have stayed the same.

Just downloaded SP1, everything works great so far... I had most of the hotfixes for CF already so not much of an improvement in Crysis anyways...
