is there like a real difference between the EVGA 9600GT SuperClocked and the PNY 8800GT at stock speeds?

I ordered the 9600gt online and its supposed to be here one of these days ... this morning i open up the newspaper and see the pny 8800gt in a 1 day sale ... for a little bit more than the 9600gt ..

should i stick with the 9600gt superclocked im receiving or shall i buy the 8800gt and sell the 9600gt once i receive it ?

where i live (in the caribbean) things are more expensive, so I could sell the 9600gt for same price the 8800gt is going for .. but my thing is , EVGA has the step up .. plus its gt superclocked .. so maybe its the same as 8800gt at stock speeds?

what you think?

superclocked really doesn't mean much.

You can easily overclock to and past the superclock speeds on any 9600gt.

If you are willing to overclock the 8800gt, it will be significantly faster.

If not, the gap will be less, but the 8800gt will deifinitely still win out.

Hard to say really.

Would depend on the settings, but it would probably be reasonable to assume yes.

Why would you NOT overclock? Its not dangerous at all, is covered by warranty, and requires all of about 5 minutes in an easy to use program.

The 8800gt will beat it. Hard to say how much honestly. Probably enough to be worth upgrading.

But, the 8800gt will overclock very well, which will widen the gap even more.

If you can upgrade with out much trouble, do it. The 8800gt stock will win out over the 9600gt superclocked, and the 8800gt has a lot of OC headroom.
