Is there any way i can connect the second gpu to the third PCI slot? im wanting to watercool them, and wit ym current barbs i dont think there is enough space to mount them both in the top and middle pci slots.

Yes, but tests in the past have shown that it isn't that much of a decrease.

a x4 slot will diminish the performance of 3870's and 3850's. you'd be better off with an air cooled card in thx x16 slot.
