Well, my retail purchased 9800GX2 showed up in the mail today. I just wanted to show everyone what my personal results were. I went from a 8800GTS 640 overclocked to 648/1512/1872 to this. I ran 3Dmark06 last night in Windows XP X64, no optimizations other than set to "performance" cpu at 3600(400X9), on an X38 board, with ram running stock timings and 1066Mhz. The result:

You can see that I got a 13140. When I got home, I found a big box with something just a little better :D . Anyway, same exact settings as last night just new graphics card:

Not a bad improvement. Some interesting things to note, it did not come with an HDMI cable or the 8 pin power adapter. But it is fully functional it seems. I will be trying some overclocks tonight and will report back.

Oh, GPUZ validation: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/g2f59/

Would you mind sharing the approx price on that bad boy?

Good result so far. What temp does it run at?

Cheers and GL.

Definitely cost a pretty penny. Picked it up from Newegg for 600 plus shipping. Both cores seem to idle at about 65 C which is a little more than what my GTS idled at (50C or so). I am not really impressed with overclocking results so far. It almost feels like I am CPU bound unless I am missing some sort of fix that I don't know about. I have easily increased the speed to 700Mhz core, 1100Mhz ram, and 1750 shaders only to get a mere 300 more points. I know something isn't right with this. I will keep searching. In the mean time, anyone have any suggestions?

Okay. So, I am still trying to figure out what is the matter with overclocking this card. I finally got rivatuner to turn up the fan and it seems as though I am reading good core clocks and good memory clocks, but my score has only improved 400 points from a 130MHz core and 100MHz memory overclock. In fact, it seems as though the only improved score is Canyon Flight. It went up about 24fps, but nearly all the other scoreds DROPPED about 1 fps(probably within the margin of error.) Does anyone understand or is there just a bug with XP x64 right now?

could it be something to do with the drivers? after seeing the early release ones, and now these ones, i wouldn't be surprised to hear they're still a bit shaky...

just a guess, though

can you tell me how long is the card ?? need to know if it fit in mid tower case
is it equal to the length of the motherboard?
maybe a closer picture will give me an idea. thank you

It is an inch or two longer than the motherboard. There are pictures of it in other threads. I don't have access to it or my camera right now. It is a tight squeeze even in my stacker up against the hard drive cables.

I noticed the same thing when overclocking the cards. Actually lost points when going from 700 up to 750 on the core. I thought it was Rivatuner at first, but now after seeing this in other's rigs, I would guess it was a driver issue.
I'm just under 22K in 06 with cpu at 4.0GHz.

I saw that you were having similar troubles in another thread. Let me know if you find anything out.
