View Full Version : leak Vs soap test
Yesterday I fired up an LS and it wouldnt pull down. when I pulled up the neck, I heard a hissing. When I squeezed my fingers over the right spot- it stopped.
I didnt have a chance to leak test with soapy water until today, and soap isnt showing anything. Im guessing the gas is all gone and the internals are now at atmosphere pressure.
Have I left things too long to test? Would the compressor suck in air when its on? Wouldnt that show up in the soap as well?
First attempt at fault-finding...be gentle please :)

Well unless you can see inside the pipe you will not see the buble. Yes it has been to long and all the gas has leaked out.
You need to recover what ever may be left then charge to 50 psi Nitrogen to find the exact spot of the leak and repair.
Sorry mate not much you can do about it now if you don't have tools you have to bring it in to some where or one and get them to repair it, and make sure they put in a new filter drier.
If the leak was so big you could feel the gas than all gas is gone now.
:( I was hoping it would be high enough pressure to show from outside the metal sleeving...ah well!

Aaron told me about this. I bet he didn't mark the box up correctly. Let alone the thing being 15KG so no reason for it to be upside down.
I'd say it's gone on the suction line it's self, probs bent and split it.
I'm not sure if the boys that Moc have said to contact will help as they do it for them selfs only but you never know as your one up in the higer stakes.
If all else fails i'll sort it out for you.
