G'day,
Took the jump to go Crossfire today with Asus Maximus Formula and 2 HIS 3870's.
Ill have 2 Crossfire bridges, but I was wondering if these are of a standard size designed to fit most Crossfire boards?
Ive had a look around and cant seem to find any kind of longer one.
The HIS one is approx 3.5" long I think. That be enough to link the cards?
Cheers.

im using a maximus formula, and the standard size cf bridges are more than sufficient in size.

i'm curious; do the bridges come with the boards or the cards? i dont recall getting any with my x38

Mine came with the HIS cards. Its approx 2.5" across.
Zen, is that the size of your interconnect? It just seems too short for some reason!

i have two HIS cards and the bridges are the perfect length. my old Asus P5W DH Deluxe mobo had two empty slots between my PCI-E slots and the bridges were just long enough to fit perfectly between my g-cards. now i have an Intel Bone Trail with only one empty slot between the PCI-E's and the bridges bend to accommodate the closer-together cards.
if you have more than two slots between your PCI-E slots, you have a strange motherboard. if you have one or two, the bridges are long enough.

Formula comes with 2 x PCI-e 1x slots between the 16x slots.

That will be fine. the same as the spacing on most boards. any closer limits the amount of air they can draw in.

The last Intel processor I had was a Pentium 133 lol. AMD ever since then.
So afraid of overclocking 45nm cos Im used to high voltages on 90nm!

City Link here in the UK. However, it didnt even leave the Warehouse queue. Its happened before with OcUK, unfortunatly they seem to acquire the parts I usually want. Vicious circle!

System is built and running stableish for now. Crossfire works fine, interconnects did have a wee bit of slack.
15k full stock on 3dmark06. Just gotta tweak it fully to run OCd!
