i need some videos cards or card...
should i go for the ati:
single 3870 x2 (cant afford 2 of them)
dual 3870's
or dual 3850's??
or should i stick with nvidia.. i have a dfi x38 mobo, a e8400 with a e8500 on pre-order. i can also get my hands on a q6600... so id like to do crossfire if i can get it working right as it seems most cant..
what should i do?? any help please or input. what would you do??
thanks

Well since you already have a x38 mobo then you might as well go crossfire, could always get one 3870 x2 and then grab another one or a 3870 later down for crossfirex

I am still convinced that the best bang-for-buck out there is 2 HD 3850s.

The 3850s are highly overclockable too... even though the GDDR4 is worth it... :yepp:

Very true. I've had a 3850 and a 3870. Its just too hard to pass up two 3850s for $300.

dual 3850
Same card as the 3870 but cheaper IMO.

are u talking about the sapphires in the for sale section that thing is a deal and it has the good memory and card id so that u can use whatever bios
also with the dfi board u have 3 slots so u can have an x2 and 2x 3870 to get quadfire if u feel that u need it
i was trying to save some cash for them

so are the 3850's really the same cards?? and are those 3870's for sale a good version of them??

3850s only have 256MB RAM unless they specifically say otherwise. The 3870s are worth the extra IMO.

Has HD3870 has a better cooler on it
Are you water cooling the card?
Are you going to use a 3ed party cooler on the card?
Things to think about.

I'd say keep your 8800GTX and wait until the summer for true next gen. There have been people here at XS who "upgraded" to the 3870 X2, and regret doing so.
