I got a prommie in today that had gotten damaged during shipping. It belongs to Rgone who is a friend of mine from XS - DFI Club Global Support - BleedinEdge and a few more other friendly forums.
I needed to show damages to Rgone so I though I'd post up pictures here for him to see. This is a new Prommie which was modded with a Chilly1 evap, new suction line and cap tube I believe. An off/on switch was added and the controller removed. These mods were not done by me.

The first major, and probably only, leak I see is at the condenser where the discharge tubing enters the condenser. The fitting has torn out of the condenser. I know can fix it because I have done another one like this but I will have to dis-assemble the condenser and cut back a few fins to get to the damaged tubing. It is possible that I can fix the leak without taking the condenser apart. I will know more tomorrow when I refit new tubing. It will be a matter of being able to heat the tubing inside the condenser enough from the outside without melting it.

I also want to show a comparison of an up scale condenser compared to the prommie condenser.

What diameter tubing goes to the condenser?

That probably ain't bad for 3 or 4,000 miles of riding in a UPS truck and 7 or 11 loads and unloads. Hehehe.

Are you going to upgade to the better condensor? I think this would be a good opprotunity. please update when you get it fixed and loadtested.

That's up to RGone. The plan was to repair leaks, new oil, filter/drier (it looks like original filter/drier), charge it and send it back. I will try to keep this thread updated as I go because I know Robert wants to see what's going on.

I think it's 5/16. I will know more later today.

tubing is 6mm...
My advice to Rgone is: Let Ron change the condensor... it really worth the money.

I would upgrade it. Should have been done the first time :) ?

Why would you want to remove the controller ? It works perfect ?

Good he has a freind in you runmc :)

I don't want to send the cooler back home without knowing what is going on so I opened things up. The cap tube appears to be near 8FT of .031 so I left it the same length. I decided to remove most all of cap tube from being wrap around suction line and wrap it around accumulator. You can see the old original cap tube that wasn't removed. It is wrapped around accumulator and then follows suction line back to compressor. You can also see how most of the cap tube was wraped around suction line on the evaporator mod. With the long suction line that is on it now I won't be able to wrap near as much around accumulator. I will soft solder what I can to the solid suction line and accumulator.

RGone is like  what are you doing to my prommie. :)
Right now I am draining oil.

1/4" for the condenser - 5/16" is for the compressor. Sorry I got mixed up before and gave you the wrong answer.

Now that is one long suction line on a prommie :D

Reused filter/drier, old cap tube still on it..... hope whoever did the original mods is not still in business

LOL - tear some butt Len :soap:

I got it brazed back together and I'm pressure testing. New, larger condenser was installed. I will straighten tubing before I insulate. I should be finished pressure testing in two weeks Robert so go big hog fishing down in some swamp for awhile :ROTF:

Vacuumed all night. Obviously this is a very light charge (means nothing as far as performance) These shots are to let RGone know that he Prommie is pumping again. I've added gas since these pictures and I will load test latter today.

It's nice to see someone tuning a system that doesn't need to be run with 100w to keep from flooding back :yepp:

You cant read that? well the 250 is a little blurred but i can easily make out the 300 mark. Time for some new glasses me thinks dood. ;) :p:

Nice repair job Ron. That was quick.

It could be a bad monitor also. It's crystal clear on my macbook and my 225BW but I imagine an older monitor might not be as clear  Very nice and quick repair Ron and great performance

Hey Ron ignore the email I just sent about what happened to the condensers on your site. Finding this old thread sent me back to the site, and I found the announcement about the Mach I and II condensers. However, unless I am going blind (which is a very good possibility) I don't recall seeing a Buy button for it, and it doesn't come up under the condenser section. Any hints?

Sorry if this is getting a bit Off Topic :(

you made quick work of this one...

how much trouble did you have fitting the bigger condenser in between the cap and compressor near the front there?
I don't have much room in mine.
