Im just thinking if it is possible to have a phase change unit built in a split system just like split airconditions?

since all the "noise and heat" is in the comperssor you can leave it outside the room?

What do you want to cool? It would be possible with a chiller. Otherwise it will be difficult. It just depends on the length of the suction line. Where do you want to put the unit exactly ?

Chiller would be easiest as you don't have to worry about high-pressure lines. Just remotely locate a chiller and a decently sized resevoir and run insulated water lines and you are set.

But if you want to go for a Single Stage, technically there is no problem. You have to think on the oil return (not very much in the Liquid line, there won't be problems with oil but on the suction line!).

Captube is you limiting factor in fact. This is how you tune the unit for the heatloads. Varying length for the correct heatload.

120cm suction line is about the max i think for a SS with 250w+ tuning i'd say.

Just have it built into a case and insualte it well to hold the sound in

You could get a larger diameter cap tube to make it longer.

Probably how long would be the suction line, if he puts the unit into another room? If you ask me, a little bit too long. Nearly not possibly. You should not forget the capillary tube. It should not be too long.

I am also for a chiller.

He could make a liquid line as long as he wants..... do you think commercial units or A/Cs are limited by captubes :ROTF:

It will be like 10' to 15' away, I dont knnow much about phase change, but it should be the same idea as a split ac they have these things located like 20' or 30' away. as far as a chillier I thought of that but you wont get the same preformance gain.

SO why this works for AC and not phase change?

It works!!! No problem with that.

Just use longer liquid line, and size the suction line a litter larger for long runs to just keep within the correct velocitys for horzantal & vertical line for good oil return.

But get a book witch covers refrigeration 101,most info is not on the forums.......
