Hi,

My WC setup leaked and my soundcard (soundblaster audigiy SE) took a shower. Since then I occasionally hear crackling when gaming.

So, therefore I am looking for a new soundcard.

-I game, listen music, watch movies. Gaming is here primair.

-Dont care for PCI or PCI-e

-I am using 2.1 Z4 logitech speakers, I wont go 5.1/7.1.

I dont want to spend more than 100 euro.

Which soundcard should I buy?

grtz

Not much point buying anything decent if your only using 2.1 speakers. a simple cheap Soundblaster Audigy SE

As said above, for the speakers you're using a discrete soundcard would be total overkill. Just use the motherboard onboard sound, it'll do well enough.

Hmm when I switched from onboard sound to this soundblaster SE it was an huge improvement. So for example switchting to Xtreme Gamer/music won't improve?

I thought that these improvements had nothing to do with how many speakers you have...

It's not so much how many speakers you have, it's just that with only 2.1 (and not exactly top-of-the-range 2.1 at that) you're not exactly in audiophile heaven and so therefore any benefits from a dedicated sound-card would be limited. You'd be better off spending the money on a decent set of speakers and just going for another cheap SE instead of buying an X-Fi to use with your current setup.

@Kakulukia, You should notice some improvement with those speakers. Buy the card and then if you want buy better speakers later on. Maybe a CL X-Gamer would be in your budget range...not sure. Good Luck on your gear hunt.

You don't mean that the logitech Z4 speakers are bad , do you?
Because it s one the best 2,1 speakers as far as I know..?

Or do you mean that the technic of nowadays isnt concentrated on 2.1 speakers, instead to +5.1 speakers...

Anyway,
Which one is better:
Xtreme Gamer vs Xtreme Music vs Xtreme Audio vs Auzentech X-Plosion 7.1

Xtreme Gamer for Games
Xtreme Music for expandability
Auzen X-Plosion for Movies and Music for some.
No real reason to bother with Xtreme Audio=P

For games. The 5.1 Sps will perform better but you're right the Z4's are nice as far as Computer speakers go.

They're not bad as far as speakers go, but if you guys consider Z4s as some of the best 2.1 speakers around then you clearly aren't that into the whole sound-quality scene.

For a pure "gaming" card, the above post is about right.

Note, I said they're "are nice (not bad) as far as computer speakers go". I like the Swann M200 and the Klipsch 2.1 Pro Media speakers. But I'm a receiver and home speaker guy.

If budget isn't your problem i would go for the Auzen X-Fi Prelude, but if your budget is a problem, the XtremeGamer would be a very good choice.

The Prelude has way better components than its CL counterpart and supports both DDL and DTS (in the next driver).

One advise though: NEVER go for the Xtreme Audio, since that's a scam by CL. The card doesn't feature a true X-Fi chip, but is just a Live24! rehash with an X-Fi sticker.

If he wanted to spend more than a 100 euros and listed the Prelude as one of the choices, many of us would have suggested it;)
