This download is a driver providing Microsoft® Windows Vista™ and Windows® XP support for Creative Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ series of audio devices. For more details, read the rest of this web release note.

This download supports the following audio devices only:

* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty®
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi

Fixes:

* Resolves the issue for systems with 4 GB of RAM.
* Resolves the Digital I/O detection issue when restarting your computer.

Known Issues:

* Before installing this driver, close the Creative MediaSource Go! application on your desktop and restart your computer. (After you have installed this driver, you may manually launch the MediaSource Go! application from the Start menu)
* When adjusting the master volume in any of the Mode Console, there is no sound output in the rear speakers. (Use the Microsoft Volume Control panel to adjust the master volume)

* Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005 or Window XP MCE 2004

Yup as i found it out i downloaded it instaled it and ... it works , but with the old ones i didn't had an BSOD since hmm yup i had some BOSD's / Restarts but wo cares. Well im really thankfull to Creative that they moved their asses.

It fixed the S/PDIF glitch. I didn't have any other problems.

i just uninstalled everything on my computer that had to do with creative so that i could update my driver. everything went well but i lost that media deck thing. anyone knows what its called or where i can download it from? heres what i'm talking about; http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/multimedia/display/creative-soundblaster-xfi_6.html#sect0

That's the Creative Media Player known as "Creative Mediasource". You can install it separately. Version 4 works better than 5 for me.

It seems that this driver also comes with a firmware update for the CL X-Fi cards (had that with my Xgamer Fatal Pro). Before the driver install i got the message that the firmware of my card had to be updated in order to install the driver. After a reboot it installed the driver and rebooted again.

Anyone also noticed that? I'm wondering what was fixed/added within the firmware update.

Is this driver a universal driver? I just downloaded the 32 and 64bit versions , they have the same filename and size. the 32 and 64bit Vista drivers are similar.
