View Full Version : 4 Work Units on 2 cores?

So I was getting ready to play some CoD4, and the way I normally do that is set Bionc's affinity to Cores 3 and 4, leaving the other two for gaming.

So I suspended Boinc, went into task manager and set the afinity for Boinc, boincmanager and boincsystray to cores 3 and 4, then resumed my project again.

Checked CPU usage, last two cores are at 100%. Checked boinc... hello, 4 WUs are still being processed?

Now I'm guessing that each WU would take twice as long as normal, but that's still a rather odd phenomenon.

You wouldn't need to set the cores like that. I play games with boinc at 100% and because it runs at the lowest priority it doesn't affect me at all.

Anyways, that is a rather odd thing to happen.

With a quad there's no need to stop Boinc :D

Then again, i coulda glanced over at my dual core laptop and saw it there, then again, i dont even know if it happened to me at all, hah it happened to atleast 1 machine tho

I can confirm this, seeing as I'm using a lame dual core.
