Hello.
I am a new prommy owner and was wondering is there anything that I really need to look out for?
Also what kind of speed increase can i look forward to with my system?
P4 2.53 Gigabyte GA-81HXP motherboard.
1Gig 1066 rambuss mem.
I see in my Bios that FSB is limited to 156 .
IS there anyway around that?
Alot of questions But i do thank you for your time.

First of all Welcome to Xtreme gordos1! :D
:toast:
The FSB limitation just doesn't fit well with Prommie cooling. You need a good OCing mobo, like an Abit or Asus where you have 300 fsb in bios. Get some DDR ram 3200 to 4000. The gear you have wastes the potential of the prommie. :D Check out some of the members sigs to see what they are running.

.... *grabs mouse cord* .... carefull there... didn't you just jump your head into your ceiling?

You have great gear, but it is not the gear you want for your new goal with the prometeia. Rambus has an excellent bandwidth but will not overclock the way DDR memory does. I had a p4t533 with pc1066 and it would not hold 145fsb.
I would recomend maybe Kingston hyperX or corsair XMS for memory
then what video card do you have?
ATI loves asus and nVidia loves ABit... at least in the benching I witnessed this weekend with Fugger and OPPainter.

4 sticks will limit you. Less a chance of OCing the memory because every stick is different. But thats a 533FSB P4 right?

yes it is a 533fsb chip... it will do 200 easy though...
the 4 sticks wont effect him too badly - hell test any two at a time then sell the others.... make money back.

Am I reading you right?
Will I maybe get 200FSB out of my old 2.53 ?
That would be great till I can get a new chip.

with a prommie :D if you had a very good 2.4c you could get 3.4 on 1.525V or less! those memories are kingston hyperX right?

the is7 is not to be called a bad board... but motherboard with memory bandwidth is most important as welll as voltage abilities...
