Hi,

I'm after some analogue volt meters - I posted this thread in the case section but it may have been the wrong section so here goes.

Im looking for a 0-2 volt dc or 0-3 volt dc analogue volt meter the reason is its for a new project i'm working on but i would like to see an indication of voltages etc for any vmods etc i'm running. Now i know that running analogue meters so far from the measuring points will not be accurate but as its more of a cosmetic thing where i will use a proper meter to set up my pots etc that isnt too much of a concern however, i still want them to be functional. Any ideas where i could get them getting 0-12v is easy as is 110 or 240v its the lower volts that have me beat as a 0-12v just wont give a good reading. The alternative to this is to mod a 0-12 to read for a lower voltage are there any of you mad scientist type electronics guys who know a way to do this eg upscaling the voltage from a gpu volt mod so it send out a higher signal i.e. 1.5 volts measured on the gpu volt mod causes a 12v source to send out 9 volts.

Any help is much appreciated.

This may be of assistance (http://www.diylife.com/2008/02/02/show-pc-stats-on-analog-gauges/). Saw it a while back on HackADay. Can't help with sourcing them, though.

thanks souls , this is sort of the idea interesting read although i'm really after meters to show actual volts from the hardware rather than running through software. Basically all ill have to do is connect a pot through the device and tune it to the correct setting - damn thats easier than i thought. I did read somewhere about something called a shunt - dont know if any of you have used such a thing.

Maybe this will work? (http://www.allcargauges.com/gauges/VDO-:banana::banana::banana::banana:pit-Series-Analog-GaugesVDO-:banana::banana::banana::banana:pitVoltmeter-p-10728.html)

Very frustrating. I'm trying to post this link here, but the profanity filter is not being very smart atm. the letters that replace the bananas are 1- c 2- o 3- c 4- k

cheers yankee thats a good resource to have, ill have to have a look around the site. I've managed to source a 1800 vintage volt meter that measure 0-3volt in a brass case - looks a bit like an old pocket watch so i might use that if im daft enough to take it apart.
