I have got this Sapphire HD2400pro for quite some time now, but recently, my idle temps have gone up from ~65 to over 85C right now. Remember it's passive and overclocked to XT speeds, but still... 85C idle is a lot! When loaded up it goes all the way to 100C.

Now I know it'll probably be fine, but hey, any idea what it could be doing? I am running Vista Ultimate x64 and it is powering my secondary and tertiary screen.

Aero. Vista is chock full of 3D crap, you can disable it all though which does decrease the "fun factor" of Vista but makes it less of a resource hog. Sounds like that passive card needs some airflow though.

There must be some reason for a 20degC temp jump. That wouldn't "just happen", unless you've changed monitoring program and your old one/new one is giving you the wrong temps.

Case fans? Case position? Change in air-con? Dust?

Found the problem... It was one of my casefans that had failed on me. I didn't see it at first, since it is located behind my hard disks. Fan has been replaced and it is at a steady 65 again :)

Is that 65* idle? That seems pretty high but I guess your OC'n on passive cooling.
