Hey.. I need a new PSU..

My system is:

8800 GTX
intel e6600 (2.6 ghz) core2duo
4 sata disks
P5W DH Deluxe motherboard..

My previous psu was 500w (probably lower), and I dont think I need more than that.. Or what?

So, which psu should I choose? It shouldnt be over 500w, or what?
The noise almost doesnt matter, since my system is on air, but it still shouldnt be exceptionally high..

Also, I have an UPS (APC Back-Ups RS 800i (http://www.apcc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BR800I&tab=models)) and I just read that the ups might damage the psu and that might be why my previous psu (northq) suddenly exploded :-P ?

Corsair HX520w should be just fine for you, assuming you dont go quad core and overclock or go SLI and overclock.

Looks really good, and at a nice price too..

If not the HX520, you might look into the Corsair HX620 or PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 for a little more juice.

HX520 is capable of a quad core no problem. 40A is a lot of juice. Heavy overclocking and SLI 8800GT probably not.

Okay.. I dont have 8800GTX sli right now, but I think ill go with the hx620, which is only $40 more, so I can do it in the future..

Good choice.

See Sparks, I dont hate on Corsair. I just think my Silverstone is better, albeit a little more expensive. ;)

Hmm.. I need help with some connectors..

http://www.corsair.com/products/hx.aspx

If you look at the bottom of the page, you see the 6 different connecters the PSU have..

But to power my motherboard (P5W DH Deluxe (http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=1&model=1198&l1=3&l2=11&l3=248)), i need a the 24-pin connector, and a 4-pin connecter.. I dont know the exact names, but I highlighted them on this picture..

http://www.janphilip.dk/motherboard.JPG

So.. Will this PSU fit my motherboard?

It will fit...Every PSU has that connector

The 8-pin connector actually splits into two and turns into a 4-pin connector
Most PSU's have that. Corsair's PSU's are my favorite, BTW! :D

It actually also says 8-4 pin.. but just needed to make sure..

New problem.. ! :P

I have and UPS..

Just a quick story.. My previous PSU had a buzz(the UPS also had a weak buzz), also when the PC was off.. One day, the UPS said "Overload", and turned off the power to the PC..

I then connected the PC directly to a power-outlet, and the PSU exploded.. gay..

I got an Back UPS from APC (http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BR800I), and I just mailed them about the buzz sound I had from my previous PSU, and asked if an UPS could damage the PSU..

In this thread, someone said.. (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=178956)

"If your UPS output is not a true sine waveform then you have that squeal and
"issues" that can 'kill' the PSU longterm."

I got an reply to my mail and they said:
"It is a sqware wave output UPS." (Not true sine waveform?)
and
"Power Factor correction powersuplly with Energy Star 4 compliance does not work
together with any backUPS."

And the Corsair hx620w has Power Factor Correction, but what is Energy Star 4?

Edit: If anyone is interested, I posted the same question on Corsair's forum.. (http://www.asktheramguy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67537)
