I am trying to install 3dmark06 on my machine but every time I try I get an error, here is the report:

Error Code: -5003 : 0x5
Error Information:
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1971)
PAPP:3DMark06
PVENDOR:Futuremark (http://www.futuremark.com)
PGUID:7F3AD00A-1819-4B15-BB7D-08B3586336D7
$10.1.0.244PAK
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 7.0.6000.16608

I have been searching for answer to this for a while but all I have can find is reports of reformats fixing this (which I am not eager to do to). Can anyone possibly advice me on a way to fix this that doesn't mean I lose my weekend to a reformat?

I can't install it either, in my case it says it cannot find the OpenAL32.dll even though I chose not to install it, but it won't work if I do it neither.

guess 3DMark06 doesn't work on Vista Ultimate x64.

@rscl it works fine on my rig with vista ult. x64. in your case google openal and download the files.

To the OP: have you tried re-downloading 3dmark?

well, OpenAL is included in the 3DMark06 installer as well. it still doesn't start properly :/

sorry for asking in your thread ABXG

Check if you have Net framework installed, and download the hotfix for 3dmark.
There's a few updates/fixes for the 3dmark

OpenAL has a fix for the audio issue. I use it fine on Vista64 ulty

I would suggest a re-download of the first issue.

Apparently something else had replaced OpenAL with an old version. It works both with the one included in the Catalyst 8.3 drivers AND of course the ones' on the site.

Thanks for helping me and I hope ABXG's problem will be solved too.
