View Full Version : Anyone have experience lapping a Xigmatek HDT cooler?

Topic pretty much states it all, I'm mildly concerned about damaging the heatpipes on the mating surface. I'd love to see pics or hear experiences from anyone who may have some.

I think you answered your own question. It would be tough to lap, as the heatpipes are exposed. I don't think you could make any meaningful impact on the curvature of the base (if there is any) before damaging the heatpipes.

Yeah, I guess I'll just do my IHS then... my chip's getting warmer than I feeel comfortable with.

I have lapped mine. I sanded for quite a while without getting holes in the heatpipes. its probobly different on different coolers but mine obviosly had a couple of milimeters of copper to spare.

I didnt see much differns in temp, maybe a degree or two..


I wouldnt recomend lapping it, they are pretty well lapped in factory and you could damage a heatpipe making your cooler worthless.
