I was wondering about this psu - Hiper 630W HPU-4M630-PE
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?HYP-4M630

I looked at the stickied psu guide and
Hiper Type-M >650W is tier 2

but this is <650 so does the recommendation still apply?

i'm very sorry for creating a lot of threads recently :(

Not bad. Channel Well OEM. About the same inside as a Corsair VX550. A tad more capacity and different output cable arrangement.

I've also been looking at a thermaltake toughpower or corsair hx 62
(maybe the 500 watt one)

both have a good reputation round here I see, although the toughpower and hiper come with bigger fans (yate loon 14cm ones i think)

The Toughpower and Hiper are actually the same OEM: Channel Well. Same build quality and design as Seasonic. The Corsairs are either Channel Well or Seasonic OEM depending on the unit.

thanks for all the help, you been great!

I never realised how misinformed I was about psu units.
This morning I went to the best pc shop within travelling distance
(3 hours away) and I picked up a Hiper 780 watt M series supply( HPU-4M780 )
no mention of noise levels outside the box, but when I opened it i was pleasantly surprised by
a discreet spec sheet listing it as inaudible........and they weren't lying:D

it's not modular, but every cable is sleeved and is individual,
ie; like each 1 molex or pci-e cable is it's own and not a string of molex
the manual says the peak power is 980 watts and it's futureproof with 8 pin pci-e connectors

I got a new cpu fan too (as I broke the arctic freezer 7 mount pin yesterday)
all I could get was a coolermaster sphere

it's super wuiet when set to about 60% fanspeed in speedfan

I plan to hold out replacing it with an ultra extreme untill I get a xeon e3110 or e8400 next month,

I have a virtually silent pc (only audible up very close inside the pc)

Thank you so much Jonny
