Except the pictured card is not the Xonar D2X, it's the Xonar DX. EAX isn't working yet in available drivers yet, even though it says it is.

I caught that also...The D2X was the first PCI-E card released by ASUS and it is full sized. The DX is new and is a half height card. There is also another card coming called the AV1 that features HDMI input and output and a I/O daughter board.

Software EAX isn't impossible, it's why folks don't like the extreme Audio. Now, can the software pull off all of EAX5.0 or some of the features?

One thing is for certain. If it's software-based, the more EAX 5 features it enables, the higher CPU usage there will be. That probably wouldn't be a problem for quad cores, but for dual cores it may slow the overall performance.

Same here. I moved my Prelude to computer #2. No biggie since both are still connected to the same receiver.

Just like any software though, it will depend on how well oraganized and optimized for the CPU. Look though Creative's Drivers and you'll find insistences of SSE.
