Personally I would never waste my money on those GTX's. If you really want sli, get some GTS's and OC them. You'll save over $200. You could almost watercool everything for that money.

wait for the end of the month and get the 9800, or get some ati cards so u can use a good chipset like the x38
and if u want ocz ram get the reaper 8xx0

what monitor are you using? if 30"lcd stick with the 8800gtx sli/maybe 9800gtx sli depending on price/performance...? is money no object? grab 2x 8800gtx's:D...you'll be set til next gen r700/g100 - whenever they get around to them
anything below 30" get 8800gt/gts sli imo.

Just wana future proof it a bit + Watercooling isn't for me it's too much fiddling about etc and I like moving computer around ALOT so just wouldn't work out well lol

meh 9800GTX doesnt even seem to be THAT much faster and I can't be bother to wait the month for it to come out then month or 2 of price gauging to go away just for tiny bit of a fps boost,
And 780i isn't THAT bad I was thinking Ati _ X38 but Nvidia is just paying all games to make it run better for them so just seems easier :D

Well, that's fine I guess. If you really wanted to, you could just get 8800gt sli, or even 9600gt sli, and save $300 to $400. By the end of the year, you could still sell those cards and buy a single card solution that will blow them out of the water. Even with the 8800gtx's, chances are by the end of the year there will be a single card solution to beat them so future proof is kind of a silly term.
But, I definitely respect the sweet rig you're trying to put together now so I understand if you crave the GTX power!

Not sure if this matters to you but i have read some poor reviews of XFX customer service on UK forums.
Would the Evga 780i perhaps be a better choice?
I believe both boards based on the nvidia reference design, so to the best of my knoweldge there should be no noticible difference in what you get unless there is a good bundle with the XFX?
maybe you have dealt with XFX in the past and are happy with them, so this is just an after thought.

It's just XFX is available at this current time to be honest with you, shouldn't be any problems though touch wood :) so hope it all goes well building tomorrow if it arrives that is :P

Normally I'd agree with you completely just that moneys not really an issue so it's all fine :D as the parents chipped in so I have my own cash remaining for a change to start saving for GT200! :D
