Well just finished building my first computer, got all the hardware in, took my time so should be mostly right. But when I press the power button, 3 lights light up on the motherboard one the corner near the ram and Fb or F6 lights up on the LED thing. It beeps for about 2 seconds, stops then beeps again and so on.
I dont know what the problem is. The only thing i could think of is I had to use significant pressure to close the CPU bracket, but there was no way to avoid this as I could see.
Im using an EVGA 780i board
Thanks for your help

check to make sure you have connected everything properly.
Harddrives, cd roms, etc & to eliminate only attach what's needed to fire up the pc to ensure its working then add other devices.

^I Second that. Unhook everything from the motherboard and power supply! HDDs CD/DVDs, USBs (except keyboard), lights, fans... EVERYTHING you don’t need. Get that mobo to a clean and easy to trouble shoot CPU, GPU and one module RAM only.
CLEAR THE CMOS!
Try removing some PCI, PCIE 1x cards.
All that’s left really is to pull the CPU out and inspect the pins, then try reinserting it...
If it’s still an issue? Repeatedly bang on the case with your fist until you hear something go click (J/K, NO don’t do that!!!)

your first rig congrads :welcome: , well yes I would disconnect all drives for now, then reseat the ram if that doesn't help and u are sure that u followed the cpu seating instructions properly? Take the MB out of the case and try booting it up on a piece of antistatc matting (the pink stuff that came with MB ) or cardboard. Also make sure the videocard (if you dun have onboard) is seated properly as well. If it boots on the cardboard (anti) then you got a grounding problem put tape on all distance holders It's rare but sometimes the screwholes are not properly grounded. Also if you have more than one memorystick (except for RDRAM) try them out individually one might be fried. Clear the cmos before you go through all of these steps though cause a scrambled cmos can be the cause 30% of the time.

PS that board is sure sick dang wish I could even afford two video cards r u planning to run a 3way sli? that rocks

Ok fixed the problem, messed around with the RAM and that made it work.
One other problem however, I have a 750GB HD and a 150GB Raptor to run my OS on. The CMOS detects the 750 but not the raptor. Whats the problem?

does that sometimes; disconnect 750 and use same sata connector for raptor only - just muck around til it works :) cos most times it will come to life...even when you have done nothing wrong mobo's 'n' stuff can be temperamental. try all sata connects til you get the raptor to work; check all your connectors and power plugs etc...the obvious.
sometimes connections just dont quite...connect / detect and you have to reseat or replug in stuff; pretty basic.
reboot, try again...
