But you don't need to come to Cebit in order to get a chance of winning this thing, right?

@S1mon- , I wouldn't mind winning this baby even if there aren't any proper drivers for it :D

How does this cost ANYWHERE NEAR 30k euros?

Mr Hertz has beaten me to the punch. Im not up to speed on the cost of SCSI HDDs, but I appear to be a few thousand off the pricetag of this rig....

GX2- £400 each
CPU: £1000 each
mobo:400
RAM: not terrible cheap
HDDs- unlikely to be cheap
case- who cares
PSU- call it £300

thats £3.5K + RAM + HDDs and I really hope RAM + HDDs do not sum to 15K

K404, 800MHz FB-DIMM are very expensive.
HDD's cost about 500pounds.
Coolit system prodably cost another 300pounds.
Remember that there are two cpu's that cost 1k pounds each.
Case+CCFL+LCD+coolers+random stuff cost about 1k pound.
Also, i see 8, not 4 HDD's.
Of course overclocking and pimprig factor costs another 5k pounds.

BTW Yeah I don't see how this is 30k Euro's. Abit not as much GPU or HDD or a nice fancy custom case was included but there was a 10k Skulltrail system that someone just one recenlty. It could very well be 30k Euro's since well everything seems to cost more in the Europe computer wise, unless im wrong if so someone correct me.

Sorry for us rest of us.. looks only European from all that I could translate out of the country lists.

If somoene wins because I gave them the link, I get a portion of it ;)

using pretty high estimates...
cpu: 2000.00
motherboard: 400.00
gpu: 2000.00
mems: 800.00
psu: 500.00
hdd: 4000.00
case: 400.00

only comes to 10,100.00USD. not sure what that is in euro.

and yea, i see 7, not 4, or 8 HDD's. and the HDD's are magnetic not solid state. so in reality 300gb total thats probably 40 or 60 gig drives. so its more like 400.00 instead of 4000.00.

deathman20
03-05-2008, 01:44 PM
CPU's would be either 1200 or 1500 each
Mobo is 600 or 800 if not mistaken
GPU's was like 600 each
Memory is expensive much more than 800 say 2000
HDD 250 each sounds nice
Case a nice amount 400 maybe 600 for it being realyl custom
Cooling 300
PSU, being 2kw, what would taht be 600?
Case Lights, Fans say 200
The small LCD screen probably 200
Add in its one of a kind 1000
Add in that its OCed 1500 because of its high clocks and risk
Add in warrenty i'd assume 1000

Stuff adds up quick so thats.... 14,400 Euros give or take a few hundred.

Thats just what I can think of now.

LOL never in a million years would it be that much.

Are you stupid or something?

An external paint job would START at that price, airbrushing is a very, very expensive process.

+ Interior job and the cut-outs, the case alone is going to be worth more than most set-ups on this forum.

I'm not sure, but it looks like there's only one CPU in there, and there's like almost no room to put a heatsink on the second one. That case is no good for E-ATX at all.

i only see 7 HDD's, none of them are SSD either. all magnetic.
blu-ray drive - 200.00
so you take off 3500 for lack of ssd drives.. and add 500 for the items you listed and you're well under 10000.00

as others have said. even if it's 10000.00, give me 2000.00 and i'll destroy that thing with what i build.

is it just me thinking so many SAS 15k RPM disk's should NOT be placed on TOP of the freacking hardware? The vibration and motion of those disk's spinning up must be tremeandous.... enough to make the case wobble I reckon...

thrust me,this airbrush+case is 1000 euros,look @ the airbrushed coolermasters,cost 1000 euros,shown on cebit too

coolermasters? lol. those cases aren't hand painted. they are painted by a computer/machine with a design. it costs coolermaster about $2 for paint +standard case build cost. the rest is markup.

Erm, yeah..... PC Gamer reviewed a custom built Northwest Falcon back when 7800GTX just came out, and this computer had a custom paint job costing $1700.

same thing with falcon, these things are mass produced. if i go to the guy here in pittsburgh that did my goalie masks, and a couple penguin goalie masks, he would do that case for about $60. he did 3 goalie masks (which are much more difficult than a computer case) with a much more detailed drawing of a panther with flames for $95 each. normally would have $115 for just one.

hell, i can go to the mall and get my case painted a lot nicer than the ones in this thread for under $200.

i'm not arguing that the cases you guys listed cost that much, i'm just saying that it's all markup. the paint job is not valued anywhere near that high.

No they aren't. a 300GB 15k drive is only 600$.

and since they said only 4 15k drives totally about 300 gigs. that would be seagates 15k 73gb drive, which is only 200$.

People here should check out online stores before tossing these prices around.

And 1000$ for airbrushing this case? there is case mod sites that do it for not even half.

? Renting a lab with equipment isn't so cheap. Even when they had the lab already, they can add this to prize, coz the lab was full of this computer :)

Yeah sure, but with that in mind they can charge you $10,000 :ROTF:

Who cares, it's all about the e-penis :p:

Did the difference between the 30K and what it actually cost go into the marketing department's slush/whore fund?

BTW - Here in the U.S. a prize like that would have to be declared as income on your tax returns. Same elsewhere?

lmfao! if you win this in the US you'll have to pay $7,893 in taxes! hahahaha. you could build something 1000x better with the taxes you'd pay on it alone.

Why would you ever trade a 2x 3.2ghz intel quadcores for one lame K10 quadcore and why a Quadro 5600?

THat's what I thought too.

Butt-ugly "mods" on the inside too.

I'd still take it for free though :P put it where it belongs... on a mobo box!

A nice system, unfortunately with a motherboard that's like Bigfoot (rumored to exist, but unable to be found) and video cards that can't be bought yet, and whose performance is still unknown.

How did I miss this thread? 30k Euro is enough for 30 well-equipped computers  I'm sorry but for 30K it had better have a 2 stage cascade built inside an enormous case and run both chips at 5+GHz 24/7 and a warranty for half a dozen chips to replace the current ones as they burn out.

Nice rig, the SAS Drive's arent cheap. They skimped on cooling though, and wire managment is a mess for that price. This is just a marketing tool and a poor one at that..companies should be showing off system's in compact layout's with power under the hood to boot, especially for the new generation of gamer.

for that money like somebody said, could down payment for a home..a nice car, or a downpayment on this telescope

talk about expensive hobby!!
