Well, I think "Geometry Wars" was the first game to require Vista, and the excuse given for that was DX10... This seems similar, and no bad thing, test with something simple and happy.

I am about to open up Dev-C++, look up the 10.1 API, and get to it.

But, I would probably make the real Pong.

If you click the link, it tells what settings of MSAA and such.

This demo was shown a long time ago, it was originally a DX10 demo i thought? But i saw it back in 07. They were focusing on how light reflects off one body to another as opposed to just a general light source lighting each object individually. Sounds like a bunch of hubub to me, didn't look any better then anything else ive seen.

opengl 2.1 vs dx10.1 lol
2 api's that no one cares about, but it really ends up coming down to that for 2 cards that perform identically and cost the same.

I was thinking exactly of this when I read the title!
Really... they're not fooling anybody. What exactly is it that DX10.1 does and DX10 cannot? I can't see anything special in that pic. DX9.0c could probably do that as well...

Fullname of the "game" is infact "ATI Radeon PingPong", and that should leave no question of who made it. It's really just a DX10.1 techdemo used as source of pretty pics for ATi's slideshows, like this one here (http://www.pcper.com/images/reviews/472/DirectX%2010_1%20White%20Paper%20v0.4.pdf).

Technically from a hardware perspective the radeon also supports OpenGL 2.1 but there is no driver support. And no they dont perform the same unless you OC the 9600

actually geometry wars doesnt require vista or DX10.

plays fine and dandy on XP.

love that game. just a never ending unbeatable game.

This demo obviously doesn't like CF setups. Much slower frame rate and weird lightning flashes all over the place on my two HD3870's. :(

Ok, now what is geometry wars? Google says it is something in Project Gotham Racing.

There is a config file. Can change resolution and GPU count in it.

Yup, I noticed that, but it didn't fixed the rendering woes.
Anyway, this build is an older one, a.k.a. development stage, so a final version will be soon available. ;)
