That's a nice price, but I thought that was the E8200 retail price? Price drop?

Um, so they bring out a new cpu when they can't even deliver the old ones? I'd like to get my hands on an E8500 but no go so far in the U.S. :(

E8400 Ftw :)
this is so useless.
Improve availability first before releasing more models.
i still have a e8500 and a xeon 3110 that i'm waiting on for a loooong time now.

Well considering how well the E8400 overclocks, this E8300 should be even killer. You are going to max out on air-cooling way before you max out the chip, which is pretty sweet.

coming soon to a store near you, sometime...when intel actually decides to sell some more 45nm chips :ROTF:

how does a p965 board like the p5b deluxe cope with the .5 multipliers?
Hmm, your NOT reaching 93c with 1.22, look at the uguru, shows 1.41 :) if people not getting that hehe..
still 1.41 for 4,2 are avarage though :) not bad

8.5x multi and that pricetag should make it highly popular for aircooling users as it gives u a suitable headroom for clock speed / FSB (500x8.5 = 4.25GHz and that's whereabouts both CPU and mobo should start limiting/hitting a wall).
I ended up with 500x8 1.34v (scales very poorly with voltage after 4GHz) for my E8400 so even a good E8200 would prolly allowed the same but price was at that time to small so I picked E8400 but today I would prolly have picked an E8300.

E8400 are overpriced in my place. They sell at around $245.
E8300 would probably be selling at around $210~220 if these become available.

What about the E8600, has it been cancelled? Most likely. Since Intel have no competition, they don't want their high-end Penryns to compete against their early Nehaleems. If there were competitive AMD CPUs I'm pretty sure Intel were going to release not only E8600, but E8700 and QX9820 also.

It would be worse if they didn't have enough and DELAYED it.
PLus, the E8300 isn't a new product, the E8300 and QX9650 are made on the same dies.
