Electricity woes

I bought a bunch of phase-change stuff recently, including a danfoss condenser with a pretty big fan. When I connected the power cord I only heard a hum and could feel it vibrate slightly. Disconnected it, and tried it again later - the fan rotated maybe once, and then went dead. Tried it again today and it hummed again. It rotates a little bit if I hit it :S

Any idea? Doesn't look like the easiest thing to replace, so if it's dead maybe I should just get a table fan.
