well the mx518 is a solid mouse... perfectly fine tracking great accuracy slides well... teflon pads never wear out (well not for months anyways) and if they do you can buy replacements... it have 2 side buttons and dpi adjuster. the wheel is great.. very comfortable solid mouse that doesnt cost $90...

deathadder is also a good mouse i hear

dont get any of the new ones they are overpriced for what you get.. (lachesis g9 or sidewinder)

Logitech G5 is the first and last word in gaming mice as far as i'm concerned. it's the best mouse i've ever owned.

The G5 is essentially a pimped out MX518 so both are very good mice. The Death Adder is either a love or hate mouse, I can't use mine for long gaming sessions because my wrist starts aching too much for some reason.

Razer lachesis works far better for me than G5/G7. I have a dead G5, right-click doesn't work after about 8 months of hard usage.

I am currently on a G9 as of last week. Worth the price? Yes and no. It feels great once you are used to it, and it does come with quite a few goodies. Different grips, weights, colour changing LEDs, tons of DPI settings, ability to store info into the mouse itself etc. If you don't need all that get the G5 V2, same layout as the MX-518 which is excellent and contains the 'back button' which was lacking on the original G5. I loved my MX-518 and it was just replaced last week with the G9 just because I wanted 'something new'.

but the g5 is laser and the mx518 is optical.. optical is better for a variety of surfaces i thought.. and i tried the g5 and i dont really notice a difference

Lachesis is way over the top for what he wants, it is the best gaming mouse currently available though.

I got one myself when it was first released after previously going through a G5/G9/Deathadder/Copperhead.

Deathadder or G5 would probably be more suitable for what he wants though.

like the mx518, and the newer gaming grade one has 1600dpi and thats great for an optical

Anyone go from a Death Adder to a Lachesis? I'm thinking about it just for the extra buttons. At one time this review was great:

http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1265679

It was done in Dec 2006 - so it's not current. Anyone seen something else like it with current offerings?

518/g5 shape is the best for me. - i like resting my fingertips on the buttons and the mouse mat at same time right at the front of this mouse.

g9 great specs but the shape is wrong.

my habu works alright but the ergononics are poop.

havent tried any razer meece for comfort.

I've personally found the G5/MX518 design the most comfortable for long periods of use but I don't really like how the right side of the mouse is designed, I end up constantly fiddling and trying to get a different grip on the mouse when I'm gaming.

OP said he wants a corded mouse so I guess G7 might not be his option. I would lean toward the new version of G5 or the G9.

Used an MX500 for years until I finally wore the left clicker out - at the worst possible time, was playing COD2 and I couldn't shoot anymore  Using a MX518 now  I have a used G5 for sale if you are interested at all.

Bought Razor Lachesis ... and it's the greatest mouse i ever had ... the design is great, rubber finishing - it's great to hold it in hand, the sensor is amazing from 100 DPI [ i use 250 in Photoshop when drawing ] to 4000 DPI ,
Golden plated tail [ USB ((: ] and the pulsing logo is awesome (: , + 16 bit transfer 1000 Hz can come handy

g5 offers 1000hz polling...maybe G9 too...guess you and me are the only ones with lachesis here, Kondik.

I'm gonna have to throw in another vote for the G5, I've got one on each of my pc's and I love them. Had the first one since they came out and haven't had any issues at all.

To tell you the truth, i've got a TRUST predator
I know, HAHAHA TRUST = LOEL, but i'm actually really impressed!

Only cost me £10 from GAME(shop)
It's got two modes 800DPI/1600DPI
Default is 800, you have to click the middle button to get 1600DPI - I hardly use 1600, 800 is more then enough for me on CoD4

AND It's got 5 buttons (ithink :')
2 on the left and 1 on the right.
It looks kinda sexy aswell, it's ergonomic too.
Overall, awesome mouse! PIC link (http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/9472/mausvergleich002ps1.jpg)

EDIT: the one up from mine, looks kinda like the Razor (http://www.web-systems.co.uk/?page=Products&pid=3321)

Razer Deathadder.

If you must buy Logitech, get the MX518. However, just know that it does not match the DA, and I have both.

If u have large hands, take a serious look @ MS SideWinder mouse.

However don't buy anything unless u put your hand on it. I've used a G9 for 2 days and returned it back. Couldn't stand it... :p:

lol, it's the deathadder/lachesis vs theg15/mx518

if you can sacrifice the sheer comfort of the deathadder the lacheshis is awesome

adamsleath
03-05-2008, 02:29 PM
rather than take pot luck i would go for the one that feels the best in your hand and sensitivity wise, well in my opinion the higher the sensitivity like 1600dpi and upwards the better :)

go to the local elec superstore near you and check 'm 'out then shop for the best price somewhere.

that's wot i do;
i'm gunna look at lachesis and the other razers. see how they feel. i could go back to a g5 but im a little bored with that shape...even tho it works.

MX518 for the price. I'll keep mine until it dies.

Remember to get a gaming mousepad of your choice - I suggest something from Func Industries - and some Teflon mouse tape. I used to use the BFG stuff, but they stopped selling it in Canada, so I purchased some strips off a guy on eBay for real cheap. It's exactly the same stuff, but much cheaper. You'll get silk on ice smoothness and your mouse feet never wear out. When one of the pieces wears down and develops a hole, you just pull it off, cut a new piece from the strip, and replace the old one. I'll get some pics up by tonight. I'll never go back to using a mouse without Teflon tape and a proper gaming mousepad.

That's really a good deal for the G5, but the G5 is not so good as the G9,there are some reviews (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16826104079) for the G9 in newegg. Right now a deal on the G9 is $60 (http://www.dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=86040&ru=282).
