Hey,

I have a Q6600, runs at 3.6 24/7, and currently one 8800GTS, i should be getting another shortly. My current PSU is only rated for 400w, and i think its struggling to power my cpu at times. I dont care about the thing being silent, the computer sits in my closet. I would like something with 8 pin cpu power just so i have those holes on my mobo filled up, and it has to run 2 88000gts's.

I was looking at the corsair HX620, but the cheapest i can find it is $120ish + shipping, and $100 is allready more than i want to spend.

Anything?

Used maybie?

Silverstone had excellent test results on Tom's with this one:

I've gotten great results with it.

Wouldn't this be better suited in the PSU section?

In the long run it really doesn't matter if its single or multiple rail. Chances are the multiple railed units are just single railed units. There are very few that actually have multiple 12V rails. Now with your setup you will want a good quality PSU. Problem is its very hard to find a good quality one in the $100 price range that can run your system. You have already mentioned the HX 620 but have you looked at the HX 520? The 520W version has plenty of power for your system. To save a bit of money you can go with the VX series as well. The VX 550 will be able to support your current system and even handle an additional 8800 GTS. Al the ones you have linked to can easy support your system but i wouldn't use the OCZ. They tend to have trouble with heavy loads. But the rest are top notch.

I have enjoyed mine so far. Been as reliable as ever. Tests good (from JohnnyGuru) and comes with a nice warranty.

All excellent choices. With a pair of GTS's, a 600W and up is fine. The 500W and 550W may be a little aneomic with two GTS's if those cards are G80's (320MB or 640MB cards.)

Doesn't matter.

Yes, it would. But a lot of PSU posts in these forums miss the ever elusive "PSU sub-forum" by a mere one click.

Alright, so $150 isnt under $100... but too bad. I picked up the silverstone 750 linked to above. Good reviews and 750W @ 50ºC i think it is.. More than i need... for now... ;)

That's where I was coming from. Of all the sites that test PSU's properly, Tom's would be the last place I would reference. Ok... not the last... but not the first.

How about that guy?

I just used that PSU for a build for a client of mine. Supported an E6550 @ 3605MHz + 2600XT DDR4.

I need a new PSU also,
Will be running a quad, but for now a Pentium 4, I'm sure that the quad uses less power than the Pentium 4. And I'm running a 8800GT.
My 12v is at 9.6v (speedfan says). I'm not too smart with power supply's, but, that seams a little bad, like, low. I'm guessing that the Amp rating is a bit low?
I have a Antec 500W PSU, and, the cords are SHORT. Not much cable management for me!

I was thinking of wiring a old 350W to use for the 12v rails, but, I don't know where to put the damn thing.. In an antec 900 case, there's not much room..
