Sorry, but thats not much of a deal since you can get a G0 Q6600 at Microcenter for 200+ that mobo anywhere for like 80...

Didn't know that. Thx for the heads up.
EDIT: Did some looking around. I could not find a Q6600 at the microcenter online store, and I don't have a store near here. I did put together a combo at the egg for $350.82 total shipped. So, for the instant gratification of putting another machine on line tonight, 9 bucks is well worth it. :ROTF:

Breath deep, the crisis will pass. The racks are coming along nicely and they do feel the need for some 45nm love, but in the mean time.... When the Q6600 drop in price soon that will be the time to pounce on them like a Cheetah running down a Gazelle.

This will replace my old faithful P4 Northy on my workbench. The Northy machine is destined for Grandma duty. I'll be happy to throw her old win ME machine in the dumper.....After I raid the parts I can use in a new cruncher, of course...:D

According to This (http://forums.erodov.com/showpost.php?p=44761&postcount=1) it looks like apr 20. Not sure if the chart is showing expected etailer prices, or $/1000, or where they compiled the info.. Dunno if I can wait till after tax time!
Sigh, WTB..... socket 771 to 775 converter... wouldn't that be nifty

I'm digging, at least at first glance, the q6700 ( 266 x 10 ) for $266 on April 20. Yeah, I know not 45nm, but easy clocking, especially for those with boards that for some reason don't like higher FSB's...
Hell of a drop from $530!

I bought this same combo last month at clubit.. to overhaul an old sempron pc. the pc is in my sig.. great cruncher budget build.
$242 Q6600 G0 http://www.clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=A1938460
$82 GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L rev. 2.0 http://www.clubit.com/search.cfm?keyword=ds3l&cat=all
$325 total...
I added a Scythe Mugen and 2gb ddr2 800.. like $400 for a nice addition to the crunching arsenal.. all the rest of the parts came from the sempron overhaul..

That's a good price... ...I threw it in the cart, and added Fed Ex ground shipping to it. Total was $337.97. Sweet! However, If you went to the extreme on shipping and used Fed Ex overnight, the total shipped here would be $362.49. This is to my location in the Pac NW. (EDIT: Forgot to mention we have no sales tax here in Oregon. Always got to add up all the potential costs.)
On the other hand, Fry's is only 10 miles from my house. What I like about it is the easy return policy they have and the ability to get instant replacements, if I run into defective hardware. No RMA, and waiting several weeks.
If the price drop info is at all accurate on the above link, that Q6700 is looking really sweet for cruncher duty. Like Serlv said, it should clock well.
As with all things computer, the hot rig of last year can be had for dirt now. I cringe to think I paid $1000 for the B3 QX6700 I run in my main rig. I'll run that until nehalem is out and prices stabilize. Then the old rig goes out to the farm stable and the new one takes it's place. The third rack on the farm is also reserved for nehalem. I have room in rack two to play with, hence the itch to fill it out...:ROTF:

See, it is all for the best. Your therapy sessions are coming along nicely when you can turn your addiction around and make it ALL about helping someone else.
And as always, take two quads and call me in the morning. :D
