OK I have an Armor case (black steel). I have been through an Enermax 850W psu and now I'm using an Enermax 1kw psu.

I install my whole system, brand new into the case. turned it on booted it up. it runs fine plays games.. for MONTHS...hell practically a year. haven't changed a thing. no watercooling leaks, nothing.

randomly playing a game or doing word documents (from heavy loading or simple low loading apps) it will just all of a sudden switch my computer off...but power is still on (on 850w enermax psu)

now on the 1kw psu...the whole computer actually turns off now no power still on. Could the wiring from the Case wires be bad?, should I just use something to short the two pins and see if it does it?

it has done this on my cfx3200m2/g and now my brand new DFI 790FX board...so its not the board...its either software related and :banana::banana::banana:s getting confused or a bad ground somewhere. I'm going to try and go caseless and get windows completely re-installed and see what happens

I had this issue previously with a DFI board, Enermax PSU and an Opty 165. My PC would just completly switch off (like pulling the plug) when doing almost anything (usually load involved though). Iv changed all 3 since then and no problems. My Enermax PSU actually blew up eventually.

Opty 165 now crunches WCG, MJ12 and Dimes 24/7. DFI board is dead.

Pretty sure it was either the PSU or Mobo but unsure.

Id suggest what your already doing. Run it caseless for a bit and see what happens, perhaps a contact from mobo is shorting or something.

Other option would be to perhaps try a different PSU (non Enermax).

THAT would be a PSU problem, sure. But the OP is complaining about random resets which could be the PSU, but more likely something else.

The most common cause for random reboots I've seen is a bad stick of RAM.

Complete switch offs with the 1KW PSU.

But yeah, random restarts could be dodgy stick of RAM. Worth cycling MemTest #5 for a few hours on each stick?

I would. Just run one stick at a time and see what happens.
