Just ordered this PSU due to it being on the quite side.............Only to read on other sites that its rather loud I was hoping to build a water cooled system system in order to keep things quiet and cool............now having second thoughts have I made a bad choice?
I will be upgrading the rest of my system soon hence the new PSU. I have my old Enermax sold to a mate and most of my system too. Looking to go Crossfire, Yorkfield, DDR2 2x2Gb, 3-4 drives, DVD writer. I'm just not decided which board to go with waiting on the X48 release before making a decision.

Noise is subjective and you know how the Internets is when it comes to conflicting opinions. ;)
I personally don't think the Toughpower is loud.
Why don't you wait until it arrives, run it, and judge for yourself.

Thanks for the advice Jonny, but I decided to cancel the order and went with a Corsair HX 620W due to it being one of the quietest PSU's around. I was hearing good things about the new BFG ES800 800w, but it won't be available to buy for a least a month :( SO I hope I made the right decision.......This time?

The fact that you can get away with a HX620 is proof enough to show that getting a TT TP 1200watt would have been a waste of money :p:

I know the TT 1200 is a dam fine PSU, but the one year warranty (UK) put me off and although I'm not 100% sure I think Corsair HX 620W is less noisey which was very important to me.

Well, depending on how high your system power consumption is, the corsair HX620W may get stressed to the point that the fan starts spinning fast, thus increasing noise. Any results yet, specially on full load ?
With the same load, the TT1200W would probably run cool and require less airflow, leading to lower fan speed and noise. IIRC it uses an 14cm fan. The reviews i saw were very positive, regarding noise and everything else.
