Cleaning Swiftech MCRES

I think the MCRES has Flux from the radiator in it.. White stuff.. was trying to search for ways to get rid of it so the mcres is nice and clean for the new setup.. will vinegar be harmful to the acrylic the mcres is made of? or should i be using something else?

What I did was to tear up a quarter sheet of Bounty (NOT toilet paper!) into 1" squares, feed them in through a barb hole.

Add 1" (measured along the long edge of the res) of distilled water, plug all holes with fingers etc and shake like hell for a while.

The bounty acts like little scrubbers as they are washed around by the (distilled) water inside the res.

Then flush out and remove Bounty using tweezers through a barb hole or filler cap - whichever is easier.

Voila, one clean MCRES.

It won't get rid of 100%, but I'd say it cleans to 90% of new in a few minutes. I got bored at that point and rebuilt my loop muttering "good enough".

now if only you could insert a small soft bristle brush there and scrub it...

I can vouch as well. I damaged mine when Isoprophyl alcohol dissolved some glue on a seam.

My own way to clean :

-Toss it in the dishwater and run thru the sterilize cycle (thanks IanY for the idea). Just remove both barbs and the top plug.

-Alternatively, pour a bit of JetDry in the reservoir, fill with very hot water then shake it a lot. The JetDry can dislodge the flux very well.

In the end, if there is still some stuff on the sides, just use Q-Tips to clean most of them.

I used some out of date Chez Brandy stuff, it's paint stripper. Cleaned my teeth this stuff does. I poor in some, shake it like mad then rinse with disttiled warm water. Job done
