I'm considering getting a full HD 32" 16:9 screen that would be used more as a monitor at distance of 3ft. than a TV (at 9ft.)
I'm curious to know your opinions and experience in similar setups.
Will it be stressful to use this kind of setup?

I don't find this very good idea although i can't say that i have used something like this. I think that 32" is big enough screen to have it so close to you. Probably you have to move your head from left to right to see the whole screen :)

I was thinking that to. so I made a cardboard screen mock-up and it doesn't feel very strange.
I remember reading here on this board couple of guy had similar setup and their experience was good.
I was just thinking of hearing some more experiences wit this...
Made some calculations on home theater calculator and at 3ft. distance + 32" you get 42 deg. viewing angle, while THX recommended is 36deg and that is achieved at 3.6ft
That is just 15cm more.
The thing is at 4.2 ft there is no use for full HD anymore.

27" would probably be a better medium for your two distances

i have a 22" at two feet from my face. i think i'd have to move my head to follow action if it was much bigger. 32" seems pretty big to be that close to your face.

i'v got an idea for you.. calculate the size of the screen you have now.. and find out how far from it you have to be to match that of the 32" find the viewing angle of both screens and factor that in ( you also have to calculate the distance between your eyes as a factor.. after all that you get a percentage.. this is the percentage of error.. =) im not to bright.. so i don't know how i came up with that, but it should work.. if anything.. a little bit.

Yes judging by that calculator it should be just right.
However it costs almost as much as 32" Sharp I'm considering and I can always use 32" as a regular TV if the setup proves bad.

Well look at it this way: 22" at 2ft = 33" at 3ft. but at 16:10 you get 3% less diagonal when looking a movie in 16:9
So, it would be the same when you look at 16:9 movie on your screen and get a 1" closer on you setup.
