Simple question, is it possible to mount the reservoir on the top in such a way that the barb on the res vill be pointing "backwards"?

I don't see how that would be possible... you need shorter threads so it tightens quicker and fully seals when the barb is at the rear..

Or if you find a thicker o-ring which seals the barb when the fitting points backwards. I have a couple of EK-Res 100 myself and a thicker o-ring should not be that difficult to find in a plumbing shop.

Yeah, I was thinking that maybe it would be possible to thread the res in different ways. But usually this isn't possible.
I see that you live in sthlm (Sweden?). Are you using your 100's? :)

No, not yet. I got them last week but hopefully they will be up and running in a few weeks. I think the o-ring solution really could work for you. You don't have to change the threads or anything like that. Just get a thicker o-ring that seals the parts when the fitting is pointing backwards.
Yes, Stockholm of course!

i'm still skeptical about the oversized o-ring. I think it will bind and leak. I hope you post the results when you figure it out though :)

You could always Tap a new G1/4 hole on the back of the res and use a G1/4 plug fro the front
Tapping and Threading a G1/4 Hole (http://coolercasesuk.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2639) - shows tapping a hole into a delrin top but could be quite easily applied to the side bit but you may need to file a flat on the rounded surface so the barb seats itself properly.

I had to do a bit of modding by fitting a EK-Multioption RES Bottom rev.2 to the top of an EK-DDC X-Res to fit a fill port and have good hose routing for the CeBIT case so it may be worth offering similar Eddy, just a thought

I purchased the EK-Res with some other stuff directly from EKWaterBlocks.com (http://ekwaterblocks.com/shop/). The shipping cost was EUR 18 to Sweden (165 spänn) using ordinary priority post. I ordered everything on Sunday evening and received the parcel on Friday. I can recommend order directly from EK, it works very well and you can pick up the parcel on your nearest Konsum or ICA.

Thanks guys for trying to give me solutions to this problem.
Especially you EK  I'll contact you when I need those tops :)
Here's a picture of why I would wanna have the barbs in such a way:

Why doesn't the EK-DDC X-RES use an anti-cyclone method like the normal EK reservoirs?
Is the cyclone not an issue with this top?

I doubled up on the orings on mine and I was able to have the barbs 90 degrees apart
three stock orings and you could have it backwards but that might be a bit risky
