Hi

I'm going crazy with this setup... It's been 3 weeks since I started assembling this rig and still couldn't boot, can you believe it?
Intel DX38BT BoneTrail, C2D 8200, XFX 8800GT and a pair of OCZ Platinum 1333 (10666) sticks dual channel kit - I really had high hopes for this setup but I can't even POST. Hell, I haven't even seen the display come up, all I get is 3 beeps for a memory error. Tried both sticks, only one stick in the first bank as per Intel doc and even no modules installed, always 3 beeps.
These sticks are ok as far as the guys in the shop say, they tested them in an Asus board and they booted.
I'm guessing it's the info on the SPD that are confusing the board, as these mems are rated 777-20 at 1.8V according to OCZ website but SPD is set at 777-20 at 1.5V. I've heard that in the past OCZ mem had issues with this voltage settings in SPD that would prevent booting in some setups, I guess this is still so.
Can anyone help here, please? I don't know what else to do. I guess I need at least one stick from another manufacturer that will boot so I can get to BIOS but this is no solution. I have seen people with the same mobo and mem and it's working fine apparently, how did you do?
I guess it also depends on the specific sample, even some review sites claim to boot out of the box.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Hi,Manel. This worked for me with 1600 platinum ocz sticks and bonetrail.

Pull out battery on mobo for an hour.Set bios config jumper on 2 and 3.Reinstall mobo battery after one hour.
Place 1 stick of ram in 3rd slot away from cpu.
Power on.
Load optimized defaults.
Set ram voltage and timings if need be.
Save and exit bios.
Power down.
Jumper back to 1 and 2 on mobo.
Install 2nd stick of ram in 1st slot closest to cpu.
Boot up.

Hi Forsaken1

Tried all that, still can't boot.
I had already removed the battery before without luck. 3rd slot is also a no go, as well as all the others.
Sometimes now the board will not beep 3 times but will not boot as well, it just stays powered but no display.
I have 2 choices now I guess: buy a stick of Kingston Value RAM which was tested with this mobo and works or ask the guys at the store to help me out using another mem to boot and set timings and voltage to boot with these sticks.
Intel says it's not their problem since they only support 1.5V mem. What's funny is that the support tech told me once they don't support overclocking and I asked why would they position this mobo as an Extreme series and advertise it as being oc friendly in their website. Answer was no oc supported.

Sorry to hear manel. The issues you are having are identical to mine.I would have to try the process above 10-20 times in order to boot, maybe more.Spd on my sticks are 1.5v.Anyhow,i sent board back to intel.First time ever for that. Not sure if i'll sell it when it comes back or take big hammer to it..The bios is poor/buggy.

I asked them the same question on overclocking.Same answer, then i laughed. This is a motherboard even if working correctly should be skipped.Good luck.

I don't know how many times I tried to boot without success.
Just now the board stopped beeping on boot up but still won't boot, it just powers up, the fans rotate, but nothing.
I'm thinking RMA as well.

Hi,Manel.

My board would do the same as above. After bios update or clearing of cmos.It was a bear to get up again.Acutally any time it was difficult until i set settings in bios. When i tryed 1478 bios,it would default the ram to 1.5v 400MHZ 5-5-5-?.Cant recall the last setting or ratio.Appears to me that is where the problem is.New board should be here next week,if the x48 are not out buy then, maybe ill try it again.
