I know some of the G.skill have problems boolign on this board due to timings. Apparently a tRFC value or less than 52 makes it diffucult to boot on the maximus.

Will these sticks boot on the Maximus and what are the subtiming values for these sticks?

I have a set of these on the way and I'm wondering what to expect.

You can fix the trfc manually with spdtool to boot up with 52+

True, but I'm not too worried about it. I'll get them to post. What I really want to know is what kind of speeds they will do. The past OCZ memory I've owned didn't go much beyond it's rated speeds. Then again, I didn't expect it to. However, I would love to see some number on this stuff. Does anyone know of any reviews?

Max 450@4-4-4- & 490@5-5-5- with trfc =42 if powerchips.

I have exactly this setup.

I'm doing 9x475 with 907 bios. Anything higher I can't do with my E8400 unless I crank up voltage, but it's 24/7 setup, so I'll leave it 9x475 @ stock voltage.

Timings are 5-5-5-15. Voltage is 2.1 volts.

Maybe I should specify. I'm talking about the 2x 2gb OCZ Platinum 8000 kit. I really hope 500fsb is easy to achieve on these. If not I WILL be RMAing them.

If you set tRFC = 52 520+ is the worst scenario and best 570+ @5-5-5-x

Maybe I should specify. I'm talking about the 2x 2gb OCZ Platinum 8000 kit. I really hope 500fsb is easy to achieve on these. If not I WILL be RMAing them.Running 500FSB has nothing to do with the ram.

The ram is rated at DDR2-1000, if you can get the ram running 1000+ on the 2:3 or 4:5 divider, but not at 1:1...it is not the ram that is holding you back.

As to the comment about 570 FSB at 1:1... that is just a bit much with 2 x 2GB sticks... DDR2-1140 is pretty much out of reach.

first of all we have changed SPD on all 8000 and 8500 4GB kits (2x2) to tRFC 54, if you buy modules that have 45 for tRFC we have an updated spd you can flash available over on the official support forum.

regarding 500fsb and talk of RMA's, you have to appreciate you are pushing the upper limit of the X38 chipset, the ram will do the clock, the issue is will the MCH. as Eric said here 500fsb has nothing to do with the ram and we would ask you test the modules using an up clock ratio to take the MCH out the equation.

This is another reason to buy a cpu with a high multi, best performance is had between 400 and 450fsb with low tRD values and if possible cas4. High FSB is not the best way to get the best from your board and cpu

I understand that. My comment was unclear. I'll use a divider with this setup, but I plan to go 45nm eventually and a higher fsb will be necessary. I was only implying that if the sticks do not run at rated speeds (whether 1:1 or otherwise) I would not keep them.

Make no mistakes, I'm a huge OCZ fan and the only reason I sold my 4x 1gb 800mhz OCZ sticks was to future proof my system a bit more. I fully expect to own these sticks for a long time.

IF I can get close to 1100 5-5-5-18 or 900 @ 4-4-4-12, I'll be extremely happy.

Glad I found your posts iadstudio :) I wasnt sure whether or not to order the OCZ 4GB Kit Platinum Edition DDR2 PC8000 as is didn't know if it would work or not in the Maximus Formula. One of my Corsair sticks just died on me so I thought i'd give OCZ a go. Im looking forward to getting the memory on Wednesday and seeing how it compars to the 800MHz Corsair Ram.

They work perfectly. After reading up on the sticks I've found that tightening timings does little to improve performance on these 2gb sticks. I can easily get them to 1000mhx at 1.9v and maybe even lower, but haven't tried yet. Just make sure you set the tRFC to at least 52 when over 800-900mhz on this board, I think I'm at tRFC=55, 1000mhz @ 1.9v

Don't expect to get the same speeds/timings out of these as the Corsairs. These are just different sticks all together and would really shine at 4x 2gb on this board (I hope to get another kit soon).

Also, Bios 1003 is necessary to set the tRFC.

Thank you for the info iadstudio  I'm running bios 0907 at the mo which is limited to tRFC 42 max. Will this be a problem or does this only come into effect at higher speeds?

TIA

i have pretty much the same experience with these sticks on the Abit IP35-Pro. I was able to get complete Prime Blend (2 hour), Dual 32M, HCI Memtest (2 hour), and 1hour 3DMark 01/06 looping stable at 500MHz 5-5-5-18, tRFC a paltry 46 at 1.84v (DMM measured from the DIMM slot). they clock pretty decent up to 540ish with 2.00v completely stable with loosening the tRFC up to 52. didn't have much luck going over 2.00v but am still working on it.

they are in the 790FX-M2R right now and really starting to kick some butt and take some names...520MHz 5-5-5 @ 1.90v with ease ;)

and the best part, you can get them for a 10 spot over $100 up here in Canada right now from a number of places

you know, I'm not exactly sure where the problem occurs, but it is definitely a problem when you OC. 1003 is a PITA to get stable but I found it necessary for this memory.
