View Full Version : Silent psu? Got a 620w corsair atm

Just wondering what the most silent yet powerful PSU you can get is? As I guess you cant just compare the manufacture values what is the noisiest a Silverstone DA or a Corsair HX? Just if its worth getting a DA850 for a quieter system.

My Silverstone OP650 is pretty darn silent. The DA will be much the same.

The Corsair HX series is about as quiet as it gets in that Watt range. However, some of the pieces I received had faulty fans or made loud buzzing noises... I must have RMAed like 5 HX PSUs by now lol. Maybe you've got one of them...
If you don't care about warranty then your best bet is to replace the fan with a SM Yate Loon or S-Flex 1200 or something like that. It will still cool your PSU sufficiently but also be dead quiet unless your load is at >400W.

Silverstone is no quieter than the Corsair so no sense in swapping. If he was buying one or the other, go for either, but since he has the Corsair already why bother :shrug:

Oh I agree, no sense in buying the Silverstone if hes already got the Corsair. More of a "sidegrade" instead of an upgrade.

Corsair/Seisonic are as close to passive as it gets...u must have the hearing of a dog :rolleyes:

More importantly, I'd wonder what the rest of his system is like. It just isn't possible to have any case fans or heatsink fans that are quieter than the Corsair PSUs. Just about any other fan made will drown out the noise of that unit.

Unless he is watercooled.

Samsung T166
Antec P182 with the 3 fans on low

The thing is I am switching all my air cooling with water and I am going for silence as I sleep 2 meters from my pc and I like to keep it running during night.
