Ok, just got my Game Theater XP in and installed it. First off, a couple of days ago I went ahead and downloaded the XP drivers from their site so I would have them when it came in. Ok, Installed the card, hooked up the exterior rack, turned everything on. Windows detected a new device. Tried to point it in the direction of where I saved the driver I downloaded, would not see it. So I told it to continue with the instalation using the drivers on the CD. Everthing worked, until I started up another app while playing a song. The song slowed down like I was using a tape deck that was running out of batteries, and you could hear distortion in it. So I thought it was the drives. So I opened up the file I downlaoded though Windows Explorer and installed the drives. Rebooted, and Windows started detecting the card again, like I had just installed it. Everytime I reinstall the driver from their site it reboots and I have to go through the whole process again....

This is really agravating. Someone please give me a hand....

For some reason I have alot of problems with sound card drivers when I install new drivers. I dont know if you have already tried this.

1) DEL the old drivers reboot
2) DEL the registry entrys which it has made reboot
3) Re-install from the cd frist "to make sure everything works ok" reboot
4) If you want to use the new drivers repeat step 1 and 2
5) Install new drivers

Ive tried that, but no luck. The problem is the drivers that come with it are not supposed to be supported by Windows XP, but the XP drivers will not be recognized when I try to update the drive from my device manager. And if I just run the driver patch, when it reboots the card is not installed and it reinstalls it, and I go through the same thing. Its really starting to make me think it was a bad choice.

I have the drivers installed that came with the card. They work fine except when I open up something like Outlook that uses alot of memory and CPU to start and the music slows down and gets distorted and even sometimes locks everything up. I cant find anything on anyone that has experienced this or something remotely close to this. Its really getting on my nerves.

I have WinXP and Hercules XP GT.
I never use the install CD.
The driver file I download and use is an executable installation file that you don't point XP install wizard at.
GTXPv410.exe - size = 15.7MB
Install the HDW and boot. Cancel out any XP attempts to assign drivers.
Run GTXPv410.exe. Do you want to Reboot question. Yes.
System reboots then XP starts popping up crystal devices with that Driver Signing message. Continue and install all the pop-ups.
Since you have been trying to re-install different stuff your registry is probably pretty ugly right now. Your best action at this point is to re-install your Op system from scratch or not?
The drivers and sft on the CD were not beneficial to me and I avoided it altogether. You may need it for the PowerDVD sft. The other stuff is garbage IMHO.
