Looks like fry's might have an ok deal for a bottom feeder quad cruncher
http://www.frys.com/product/5389628
599 for a quad, case, peripherals and vista premium. Needs some ram badly, and the mobo is probably crap... but might be worth a look.
Maybe it just needs ram and a cooler? whatcha think?
Its a little more than I'd put full time on a cruncher... I usually just swap out floppy and cd as needed, but might make a nice boxed package.

If that is bottom-feeder, then ouch what does that make my single core crunchers? :( ;)

No fouls meant against any single cores... or existing machines. I meant bottom feeder to refer to the quality of the components... the mb, ram, cheapass psu, etc!

just messing with ya ;)
I'd be most worried about the PSU than anything else. RAM might be cheap, but hey I just picked up a 2GB Corsair XMS2 kit for $37 AR :) Generally cheap ram still works. Mobo, ehh might not OC well (if at all) but probably will work OK. PSU is the freaky thing though
Maybe might just be better to get the parts separate? Probably spend the same amount (roughly) and get a mobo/CPU/RAM/PSU/HD that would work well and OC too. I'm just guessing off the top of my head, haven't priced anything out.

My rough guesstimate was that you could get good parts for about that cost.. .minus the case, vista prem, and other assorted peripherals.
It probably is certainly better to get better components seperately.. but.. it tickled my hardware bug.. and its just kinda tempting for some reason :D
And I really can't talk too much smack about single cores, I still have an athlon 1100 or 2 crunching under gilmore

Ya I know what you mean about tempting - good thing my budget tells me not to buy stuff right now otherwise, well....
