So I got a sponsorship for my new setup, Mithril, and started getting ready to sell off my old stuff for the remaining pieces (this covers nearly two-thirds of the cost, mind you-they dug deep!) so I shuffled around my setups so the wife got my P6N Diamond, the kids got my BadAxe2, and I had a pile of parts scavenged out of those cases. Granted, that pile of parts will run, and not too badly, but that stuff is already sold.
So, I drag out the NEW hacktop. Missing its screen in its entirety, this Acer sports a Celeron 430 and 512 of RAM-and no hard drive. It's writing this post from a Ubuntu CD as we speak.
Hacktop out, I fire off a call to my buyers. Tax time is arriving slowly, and they'll be a month or so in getting parts from me. Bummer, but not the end of the world. Fired off an e-mail to my sponsor. They're gonna be late waiting on a new revision.
I have about a month and a half of quality time with half of a crappy laptop ahead of me. And to boot, my wife's PC doesn't want to reinstall Vista.
Makes the surgery this morning seem like nothing.
