I asked this is another thread so I will start a discussion here.
Which recievers have a truer measure of wattage or consiverative measure?

Which one have an inflated measure?

none.

Look at what its rated at then read the back which states what it actually consumes. Assume 80% efficiency at max and you'll see how over-rated they ALL are (usually about 2x).

My Onkyo TX-SR304 uses around 30-35w playing analog audio from my sound card to 5.1 speakers.

People on AVS Forum say my Dad's TX-SR705 draws about 600w @ normal volume levels :X

There is no way it draws 600w from the wall...no way.

Unless the AMP reading on my Monster power bar is wrong, the Yamaha HTR-6030 draws about 0.5A at normal listening levels, around -30db or less. Yamaha is known for having strong amplifiers in their receivers, it actually will do 100w per channel.

Quoted for truth:)

Please also note that some of them Cheat=P They measure max power of the AMP playing on a single bridged channel. Yet, I'll still take Harmon Kardon's over most of the others in this segment. Sure they're not Carver or Macintosh:) I once had the whole Phase Linear series 1000 set, I still have the Noise Reduction Range expansion unit.

The Harman Kardon 730 I tried to tell the Headphone guys about is rated at only 50 watts per ch. It killed 4 sets of speaker and 3 different cans, one set was Sinnheisser HD600's. Klipsch owners love these Integrated Bi Ampped Receivers.

If you truely like good sounding music enough to spend 200 on a sound card for Analog out, then try this one?

for sale is one Harman/Kardon 730 twin powered receiver. functions well, nice clear sound,in good cosmetic cond. if you know harman/kardon, you know this unit is seriously, unbelievebly loud and definately a piece of higher end stereo equiptment that made this company legendary. Todays receiver's dont even deserve to be on the same level of consideration, after hearing this you wont ever own anything made after 1975 again. solid state, 200$

730 was the $1000 receiver that got them on the map, the others were low Volume super expensive niche market stuff. I only wish some one else could hear what I heard, blow up some headphone then understand what a REAL HEADPHONE amp sound like. Building headphone amps? I don't know jack about electrons but even I built a short wave radio from Radio Shack when I was 12 LOL!
